The cards would have no reason not to, I don't imagine that was the issue which is what prompted my earlier comment. It had to be they offered him 20-40m more that he couldn't walk away from.

As a die hard Cardinals fan, this doesn't really upset me. It bothers me a bit but I understand the business. Not to mention, I was never for the Cards giving him 10 years. I felt an AL team had the only realistic shot at landing him for 10 years because of the DH. Pujols doesn't have good legs, feet, knees or back. Look at how he runs, it's almost like Ellis Burks out there. I think in the long term, this was the right move for him and it's not like he gave the Cardinals every chance to match what others offered. Business is Business.

Let me start of by saying I'm an Angel Fan and not happy with this contract (too long for his age). If you go to www.angelsbaseball.com the rage on Albert is crazy. Shit was 23 pages basically instantly. The guy wanted a no trade clause and around 200mil (the Angels overpaid). StL couldnt give him the no trade clause so he moved on. Where is the rage coming from?
