5 years 77.5 for CJ Wilson. Marlins thought they were players and the Angels just dropped them in a matter of an hour.
Any word on serious suitors for Prince Fielder and what the Pujols deal did for/to his price tag?
That deal for Wilson's really good, especially when he's going to be the #3 guy and pitched so well in a hitter's ballpark like Texas. The Pujols deal is a terrible one, but Wilson is a good one.
Damn my angels are breaking the bank. I love the Wilson deal. #3 starter whose ERA should drop quite a bit moving to Angels Stadium. Weaver / Haren / Santana for the playoffs if his struggles continue. I would think that with the Albert deal the Angels will start shopping Trumbo / Iztruis / Callaspo for a third basemen. They could also try and trade a Trumbo package to the A's for Gio Gonzalez.
Not as bad as the Mauer contract.
.Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com was told by a high-ranking Marlins' official that the team "is not and will not" be pursuing free agent first baseman Prince Fielder.
Rosenthal was told that Fielder can't drive the Latin market they were hoping to pull in if they were successful in their efforts to sign Albert Pujols. The market for Fielder has been slow to develop until now, but look for that to change in a hurry. While there's no clear leader in the clubhouse right now, the Mariners, Cubs, Blue Jays and Rangers are all potential fits.

Also they should do that a little closer to their cars next time.
That burning was so important that changing out of a robe would have been too slow! Feel the rage!
Funny how quickly they forget about the two WS titles he helped bring to St. Louis during his time.
They probably went out and bought that shirt (wtf a tshirt that's probably like $12 at Walmart) just in case this happens. They were all like, hey if he signs elsewhere let's burn it soon as we can and put it on youtube! We'll be famous! There's idiots everywhere in the world.
I like how it said the Mariners are interested in Fielder. That would be awful. Fielder isn't looking for a 10 year deal probably either. He wants a short deal and hopes to cash in on a bigger deal in a few years. Though let's face it, he's fat and will probably sign with the city with the best food.
Resigning Pujols made no sense for the Cards. They fill their stadium regardless of whose on the team, no way they could afford him.
The Cardinals play in the NL Central. They will still compete every year. Pujols honestly is on a decline and probably had 3 maybe 4 really good years left in him while still having to play 1B everyday. The wear and tear on his body will be lessened with the Angels.
Sad to see Albert go, but maybe next season we'll have a player that will advance the runner and not hit into so many damned double plays.
Can't wait for tweek to add the Angels to his sig
