The double play thing did get a little annoying at times this year. A part of me wishes that any athlete superstar that leaves his original team, has a downfall just for Karma's sake. On the other hand, it's Pujols, I would love to see him put up monster years while he still can.

Karma? If anything St Louis got "Karma'd" for employing the best hitter in baseball for 10 years while paying him like a role player. Why do people think they have some type of entitlement over a person because of how long they wear a jersey? Baseball is a business and loyalty shouldn't play as large a role as people expect. Yes he was the current face of the franchise, but the Cards got a bargin for him in the peek of his career.

I like to believe players should remain loyal to a team, no matter the sport, no matter the team. Most of your great players in history of any sports, all played for 1 team or at most were traded. They didn't leave to build a legacy else where. I did say most, not all as there are always exceptions to anything.

As for Pujols, I've said before, I understand the business side of it and do not think he's worth anywhere near a 10 year 250 million dollar contract. He's not 22. The Cards offered him what was best for them and he moved on. The Cardinals thought about their long term and Albert thought about his and they didn't match up.

That's because free agency didn't exist until about 40 years ago, those were their only options, lol.

I get the larger point, though. Most guys end up leaving the team they made their mark on way past their prime. I'm sure Pujols still has a few prime seasons left in his bat.

Fans love to judge players for taking money but they forget this isn't a game for them this is a business. Loyalty will only get you so far considering those same fans that want you to be loyal would be the first ones to throw you under the bus for a dip in performance.

I'm not sure of my St. Louis Card history, but Cards fans are saying Stan was offered a mega deal to play in the mexican league and turned it down (but there are obviously way more factors than just money). Also that when he was making $100,000, his numbers slipped and he told the Cards to reduce his salary to $80,000 until he earned the rest back. No sure the validity of those statements.

Anyways, more power to Stan but that path isn't for everyone. Especially in some of the other sports (NFL!) were the contracts are not guaranteed and the owners won't hesitate to cut a player if they see greenier pastures elsewhere. Their employers treat it like a business, the employees should treat it like a business too. Good for Albert, just glad it wasn't may team forking over $260M. Unfortunately Fielder and Darvish are on the Rangers' dart board

I'm happy to see ross gone tbh, but I don't think they have given up on beltran. I really don't think they are stupid enough to give up their top prospect for beltran and know they don't have the money to resign him
