Apparently Braun was actually exonerated on a technicality. Someone at MLB screwed up.


Braun argued test protocol had not been followed. Collector took sample home & kept it refrigerated rather than get it to FedEx asap.

Braun test sample collector thought FedEx/Kinkos was closed because it was late on a Saturday. MLB is livid and considering options.

So grats Braun.

One time I was getting a blood test for STDs at a clinic. The person drawing the blood took one vial, then removed the needle. Then he realized he needed two vials, but instead of re-inserting the needle to take another vacuum-sealed vial of blood, he opened the first vial to the air, right in front of me, and poured half the blood into a second vial. Then he plugged both vials, vacuum seal destroyed, and walked away to get them tested.

The test came back stating that I had Hepatitis-B. It was the worst day of my life.

6 years and 3 Hep-B tests later - I do not have Hepatitis-B.

Bad collection/storage/tampering/etc procedures CAN fuck up test results. The test showed his T/E ratio was 20:1. Anything more than 4:1 pops you for a test. 20:1 is insane.

This was before I was a boss nailing chicks on the reg. I hadn't had sex in about 6 months at that point and the last girl I had slept with was a girlfriend who was a virgin when I met her (not a tee-hee I'm a virgin virgin, I mean a hymen-popping bleeding virgin), AND we always used condoms.

It was a false positive.

Hell, I have a friend who got a false positive HIV+ test about 10 years ago.

Ok I made a 12-team roto league just like last year. I left the settings and roster sizes as default but I can change anything until the season starts. Can add more teams also if necessary. I made sure to set the lineup slots to lock individually, lol.

Commented on your FB, but I seen this and thought it needed addressed. 20:1 test:epi isn't some insane or egregious amount that indicates tampering. 4:1 is what is generally considered the norm, but people can (and do) have much higher norms. I've personally seen 8:1 in labs. I'm sure there's lots of MLB players that baseline at higher than 4:1. 20:1 is definitely abnormal, but I wouldn't think it's crazy for someone injecting it regularly.

BTW, the sample was kept "in a cool location" and was sealed, so tampering is not a reasonable defense and degradation of the sample is at the very least highly unlikely. Only certain bacteria effect the T/E ratio, and they wouldn't make the CIR test positive for exogenous testosterone. And no, antivirals don't cause false positives.

Braun threw a bunch of shit against the wall, enough of it stuck for a layperson arbitrator to clear him, but the evidence against him is no less strong than it is against everyone else who has been caught by MLB's program.

From what I've read, any test of 4:1 or higher is investigated.
