What is it with the state of Texas and people who can't wait to ink their team's achievements before they're clinched? Earlier this week, Shutdown Corner had the man with the Houston Texans Super Bowl champions tattoo and now the Big League Stew inbox receives some Texas Rangers body art that is, well, demonstrably untrue.
Says our tipster:
My friend had this done before Game 7. Maybe you can show the world how big of an idiot he is, or just a die hard fan.Oh, so many thoughts here. Did he have a deposit down on the session before Game 7 and just decided to go ahead with the tattoo in an attempt to reverse the bad juju from Game 6? Did he originally get that NBA Finals tattoo after the Dallas Mavericks took a 2-0 lead in 2006? Does he know that one angry Yahoo! commenter would have quibbled with the "world champs" line even if the Rangers had won because they did not beat a team from Japan? Is he now hoping he can one day change that last "1" to a "4"?
Valisk tried to be ahead of the curve for once.

Giants traded Sanchez and a prospect to KC for Melky Cabrera hahahahahha
Well being that Sanchez was injured last year, and the guy is a bona fide head case. He's fine till the slightest thing goes wrong and he completely falls a part. I'd say the odds are better for Melky to repeat last year then Sanchez repeating 2010.
Also this means Torres is most likely gone as well.
The Giants just got trade raped yo, this must be what KC is feeling like right now

Nah, watch Sanchez unravel every 5th inning cause someone boots a ball or he gives up a homerun. He was crap in the '10 playoffs, crap in spring training 2011, and marginally better then Barry Zito in the regular season.
Kansas City Royals 2012 AL Central Champions
Due to the nature of these two players, I don't think this trade can really be evaluated until next season.
What if Sanchez just never gets better? Cabrera has career line of .275/.331/.398. Provided he plays an average CF (which some think he improved in that area this year), that's acceptable. And probably fair value. If he hits somewhere between his career line and 2010, he's a nice player.
It's a trade of two HUGE "ifs." KC is taking on a bit of risk as well. They're about to pay about $5M to a guy who's coming off an injury plagued season and is one year away from free agency.
It's not as cut-and-dry as to who the "loser" is in this deal.
Melky Cabrera is fat, lazy, and not very good in the few seasons he manages to overcome these liabilities. Jonathan Sanchez isn't anything special, but he has some value.
