Like most high-tier professional athletes, if there was a gun to my head I'd say "yeah, he uses or used PED at some point". I don't care if it's Braun or Clay Matthews or Matt Kemp or Aaron Rodgers or Derek Jeter or Jeff Bagwell or whoever. I think I'd be right more than I'd be wrong.

Was it likely his urine in that cup, properly collected and showing a ridic 30:1 T/E ratio, probably from a testosterone patch he wore that day? Yeah probably.

But what it comes down to, for me, is this. I fucking hate leaks in "confidential" processes. I think it is so unbelievably unprofessional to have happen, from a health records confidentiality legal standpoint to a justice/court of public opinion thing, etc. etc.

The fact that this is the first PED leak they've had with this system, involving my favorite player, pissed me off to no end. Following that up with the MLB fucking up their own protocol, getting raped with it by an arbitrator that THEY chose, who had voted with them in every other circumstance, is unbelievably gratifying - not because it means "omg Braun is clean!" (since you literally can't say that about anyone) - but because it embarrasses the MLB over testing, when they should be mortified about the leak.

By no means am I saying I think Braun is clean - but then again I didn't think he was clean before this either. Drugs are always ahead of enforcement, and most players will and do take the very small risk of getting popped a few days a year to help their team win/enhance their legacy/get paid.

And the other thing that bugs me is people thinking they know the absolute behind-the-scenes truth from a bunch of unnamed leaked sources. We likely will never know exactly why Shyam Das ruled how he did, or at least know the full story behind it. I'll be curious to see what his written statement says - I've read he has to produce one in the next 30 days, although I don't know if it is a public document.

If you cheer for sports, you cheer for "cheaters". Get used to it.

I am not going to judge an individual by the probability that he does something based on the group he is in. Do a majority of MLB players likely use steroids of some kind? yes. Does x player? I will say no everytime until something like this happens. Until there is strong evidence, I will give the player the benefit of the doubt.

Let me clarify since I actually believe you don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

The point of the DNA test would be to prove it's not his urine - not anything to do with PEDs.

Illegally releasing legally protected medical information is completely different from someone revealing Derrick Rose cheated in high school. One is privileged information, as agreed upon by billion-dollar entities (the players union, major league baseball, and the federal government), the other is not, at all.
