ms excel 07 - frequent crashes

my excel crashes a few times a week and from what i've gathered recently it has been due to having several (usually 8+) 100k row reports open at the same time with processes happening across several of these files from time to time.

i'm wondering if anyone knows how to stabilize excel for multi large file usage? is there even anything i can do?

Could possibly be that you're running out of memory.

Its a known memory issue, office 2007 is known to be a huge memory hog.

2010 is ok but if you have 2007 don't think you need to upgrade. Go to your control panel and uninstall a program section. Choose office and at the top should be an option to change or uninstall. Click that and you'll get an option uninstall, repair or change product key. Choose repair of course. Will probably take about 5-10min. Fixes nearly all issues I've had with office at work.
