I will never spank my daughter or son. My mother beat the shit out of us because that was how she was raised. It's lazy parenting in my opinion. Instead of taking the time out to explain and coach your kid, just scare/beat the shit out of them so they dont do it again.

I've had that experience. Another one of my siblings was beaten until she bled. I'm of the type Kuya mentions who eventually is unaffected by the beating and revolts. The old man said he was going to prosecute the crazy bitch, but never did (He's a pussy at following through on him threats). I should probably undermine my previous post though since anecdotes mean shit in terms of generalization.

That's why I made sure to add that I don't approve of it. My general statement was that "It is spanking, but spanking is not acceptable." Those wishing to maintain that (On a milder scale) as a viable method would obvious have to reject the first conjunct in order to prevent contradiction within their argument, so I can see why people would disagree. However, I personally believe that they are the same term. Since it's personal belief though, it would be ridiculous of me to state it in terms of a generalized belief.

Well that makes sense, thanks for explaining your position. You have to realize though that there are many of us who were spanked on a rational level, who feel it most likely did a lot of good... obviously it's a hard thing to prove, but I must say I was a wild ass child and those spanking were probably the most efficient way to not only calm my ass down but quickly teach me right from wrong. It's hard to read that someone thinks that a spanking and a severe beating coupled with extreme verbal abuse are the same thing, but I can see why you personally would feel that way.

I didn't read this thread till now. I saw how many responses it had gotten. I wish I had earlier. I did not even know about this. That video and this thread have made me rage! Part of the reason why is I was hit like that with a belt when I was a kid. I just need to add my 2 cents. It was by my father also. It wasn't quite as bad as what this guy did because I never remember him hitting me for that long. He would give me maybe a dozen hard hits. If my mother was home at the time she would literally, physically drag him away from me. She would tell me he just didn't know any better.

Too the people who said this is not that bad.. fuck off!! This is abuse. I dought they have ever been hit with a belt like that. It really does hurt. I would have bruises and marks on my legs and butt for days. I don't care that a lot of people (especially in the south) think that this is just "old fashioned" punishment and has been passed down doesn't make it right. A thick leather belt can still do some damage. If you were in public and some stranger did something to wrong you and you took off your belt and started wiping them as hard as you could what do you think would happen? They would throw your fucking ass in jail for assault with a deadly weapon. But if you do it to your child it's ok?

I also don't care that she broke his "rules" she still didn't deserve that. It does not even matter if she set this up. He didn't know that at the time! He's most likely been doing this for years and maybe even worse. Hell, if Youtube was around when I was a teenager I mite have done that same thing. Anyway, it shows the character he has as a parent. He says he lost his temper? That's no excuse. What if he had hit her with his fist? I'm sure that would fly in court.

Last thing. The part that bothered me most about the video was when he got really close to her and said real quietly: "If I so much as hear you raise your fucking voice.. or you do one little thing wrong.." That gave me a chill. I hope they bury this guy.

Past the initial beating, is there anything highly crucial in the video? I mean, she was getting hit in non-ass areas simply because she NEVER DID AS SHE WAS TOLD. If she had listened like she was supposed to and bent over the bed and taken the beating, everything would theoretically been alright. But she was resisting from the start, last thing you do with a guy already ok with beating you.
