He has a knack the last 3 years of hitting huge 3s in the 4th quarter. They wouldn't have won a title without those shots.

It's pretty much his entire offensive game now. But yeah he didn't develop that shot until being forced to.

Coach Thibs because the fastest ever to 100 wins in NBA history.

and in Thibs fashion he coached the bulls to hold the magic to a Magic and bulls Franchise low 59 points.

    Runaway COTY.

I have to agree with you. I am a Lakers fan but I do get tired sometimes at the amount of shots that Kobe takes. If you were to look at Kobe's PPG, one would think he's a great scorer. But in reality you really do need to look at the FGA's to really get a more clearer picture. I think a good scorer doesn't mean a person who can jack up a bunch of points, but they also need good efficiency.

Kobe is the leading scorer this year but if you examine the stats you find (excluding 3 point attempts) he averages 23.7 shots per game of which he converts 10.2 (~43%)

LeBron averages 18.5 shots per game of which he converts 10.1 (54%). So LeBron makes almost the same amount of baskets that Kobe does, but he does it with less attempts.

Overall, this season Kobe has made 459/1068
    Lebron has made 443/797

So in my eyes between the two, Lebron is a better scorer.

It's pop easily. We've gone most of the season without Manu and still kept winning.

Lebron can take fewer shots though because he has both Wade and Bosh who are capable of easily putting up 20+ points a night. There weren't that many great shooters for the Lakers before the trade, if Bynum was having a bad night it was pretty much Kobe + Pau trying to do everything, he's had to take the game in his hands on more than 1 occasion when the offense was just not there.

I personally prefer Lebron but Kobe doing what he's done this season at this age is pretty impressive.

I'm pretty sure he's still shooting with a numb wrist too. Could be wrong, I just remember hearing that his wrist wouldn't be taken care of until post-season

Being a Knicks fan feels like being a battered housewife sometimes. I think that's a good way to describe being a fan this season.

Pop never wins COTY. Everyone already knows he's the best coach in the league. Same thing happened to Jerry Sloan - those guys would win it every year if it went to the actual best coach each year.

COTY goes to the feel good/up and comer/media darling every year, same as MVP (see D. Rose).

Yeah those awards are meaningless these days. It's like allstar voting but for writers.

I guess once you win the award once, they look for someone else to award.

Also, LOL @ the Lakers being 0-2 after the Fisher trade. What good does having a speedy PG if your running give it to lebron iso plays?

Hey dummy. Sorry to burst your bubble but awards have always been voted by writers since the early 80's. Before then it was chosen by the players

Ps point god also won the MVP vote by players that were polled.

Going to be a tough game for the Mavs tonight. Possibly no Marion to guard Kobe (has held him to 14 points this year so far) or Haywood to matchup with Bynum.

When my team's players and coach wins COTY, All star selections, and MVPs, it's cause we deserved it. When other teams win those awards, it's meaningless.
