The Lakers don't get much stronger immediately with Paul. They definitely do with Howard. And the Hornets get about as good of a trade-off as they can manage by landing Pau/Odom. A Top-3 PF and a solid SF who can also play PF at starter level? What better deal were they gonna get?

They're eyeing both though. People were saying the same thing immediately after Celtics traded for Ray Allen and everything turned out fine, right? Of course Howard is better, but the Lakers won't be hurting with CP3. Fucking first world problems over here

The Magic's attempts to build around Howard were stupid, like Gilbert Arenas for example. If they had made smarter moves, it'd be different, but let's not pretend they made the most intelligent efforts to give him a supporting cast. Him going to the Nets already puts him with Deron Williams. For the Magic, that deal is more favorable for THEM than the Lakers giving Bynum for Howard, which isn't even close to fair, cause you can't build around a guy who can barely stand on those legs of his. I dunno who actually thinks that original offer is close to fair. Give them Bynum + Odom maybe, put Pau as PF, and the Lakers can still run that Two Towers offense they wanted with him + Howard if he's going to the Lakers.

Magic could take the Nets trade and prolly give them Turkoglu's contract(think they'll have enough room for both), get some good building tools, and whether or not they amnesty Arenas, they have ALOT more room now to build with. I really doubt Howard is going to stay there, despite reports saying he is giving the Magic a chance this season. If he wants to go, they need to make the decision of whether they want to perform now, or down the line. The Lakers could give them good pieces for now, the Nets option is abit better down the line since all the Lakers big men are getting old and/or have knees that are old in Bynums case.

I still stand by my statement that a ridiculous shitstorm will hit if Orlando actually accepts a trade to send Howard to the Lakers. It's gonna be alot of crying.

He has said he doesn't want to go to the Celtics, the Lakers offer is now void, and the Knicks have nothing to offer and they can't really bother doing a multi-team trade now since this one got shot down. He has said he won't sign extensions in Golden State, and no small market team is going to get him to sign an extension. That nigga is gonna WALK, and you are going to get nothing at all for your small market team.

Nigga is going to get paid one way or the other small market owners, he has made it known. Least you could do is get something out of it, but I guess you need that cap space for signing average players to terrible fucking contracts like usual. I hear Baron Davis is available soon.

No one sane believed the Lakers would get both (a few of us had the foresight to realize they could probably get one given LA's market and the players' strength in negotiation). Doing so would have required getting Howard without something alongside Bynum, or Paul without something alongside Gasol. And that happening was something only Heat-level Laker bandwagoners believed in.

I get that you think Odom isn't worth much, the problem is that he's the only other person besides Kobe Pau and Bynum who is worth ANYTHING. Unless you honestly think we're gonna get otherwise serious buyers for Walton, Artest and Blake
