I'd welcome him with open arms for a MLE
here is how the new all-star/all-nba/mvp contract thing works:
"Under the NBA lockout deal reached Saturday morning, players with six or fewer years of service in the league can sign contracts with a maximum first-year salary equal to 25 percent of the salary cap, or roughly $14.5 million for the 2011-12 season. But if that player has already made the All-Star or All-NBA team, he can sign a deal that pays him 30 percent in the first year of his second contract, which is also the max for players with more than six seasons of service.
This will affect young players signing their second contracts, usually following their third seasons. (This contracts go into effect after the players' fourth season.) "
oops, forgot to add the other part of the article
basically anyone who has been all-nba twice, a starting all-star twice, or an mvp once is eligible for the bump from 25 to 30% in salary.
also, here's amnesty:
"• 2011 CBA: One player can be waived prior to the start of any season (only one player can be amnestied during the agreement, and contracts signed under the new CBA are not eligible). The salary of the waived player will not count toward the salary cap or luxury tax. Teams with cap room can submit competing offers to acquire an amnestied player (at a reduced rate) before he hits free agency and can sign with any team.
• Who benefits? As with the amnesty provision in the 2005 agreement, this provision allows teams to kick one bad contract to the curb. The benefits to amnesty are greater now than they were in 2005 -- 100 percent of the player's salary is removed for both cap and tax purposes. The other big change is that teams are allowed to pocket their amnesty card to use later -- so teams that managed their cap well to this point benefit because they don't have to use it or lose it.
Teams with cap room can benefit greatly from the amnesty provision by being able to submit a competing offer to claim an amnestied player at a reduced rate. For example, if Cleveland uses its amnesty provision on Baron Davis, a team that is $5 million below the salary cap can submit a $5 million offer to acquire Davis' contract. If that offer is the highest, the team acquires Davis and is responsible for $5 million of his salary -- with Cleveland responsible for the balance. This happens before Davis becomes a free agent and can sign on his own with a team like Miami."
the interesting thing about amnesty is the part at the end where if someone is waived, another team can claim him on the cheap.

well rose is eligible yeah and he'll certainly get a 30% level max deal. his salary isn't automatically upgraded without negotiation or actually signing a contract first though
You think he would get anything short of 30%?
nah i'm saying it's a lock, but what you said before made it sound like it was an automatic contract stipulation, unless you were just being hyperbolic
Well yeah.
hey will you be angry if i draft rose before you
No because you'd be dead as soon as it happened
my resolve is only strengthened
Need to make sure only people who will finish the season and periodically check/set their team are participating. Hate it when people quit half way into the season or don't adjust their line ups and just give out free wins. Should be frequent posters only so we can bust their chops and remind them constantly if they fall behind.
Valisk we miss you in the nfl thread plz come back.
lol i was thinking the same thing. i thought you died bro
Only thing that died was his feelings.
