    Dungeon Defenders

Just downloaded it last night to play with my group of friends, seems super super fun just the power kept going out last night so we couldn't even finish the first level D: (0/3 tries, we had that shit too) but it was a ton of fun the few waves we did get to do. Just wondering if anyone on here plays, what class(es) they like and general impressions of the game!

For those that don't know, it's sort of a tower defense/action RPG hybrid, basically waves of enemies come at you and you have to defend your base using your abilities and whatnot. Different equipment and whatnot seems pretty awesome but I haven't really had a chance to dive in and see all of the possibilities, although I do know that there's a portal gun and some TF2 characters in there (but no hats D.

Also if there's a thread for this that I missed just delete this, or merge or whatever it is you mods do.

But if anyone wants to play (not that I know what I'm doing really, I'm level 3) steamid is killbishop, add me! I'm also in the BG group (name is +[*_*]+ Lo.Fi)

Surprised there hasn't been a thread for this yet.

bf and I are totally hooked. but don't buy this if you're gonna play alone, it really only shines when you have friends to play with.

there's a lot of balance issues, for example squire is just fucking op as shit. monk/huntress are both pretty frustrating to get into, and are pretty weak if you plan on building up your hero stats over your tower ones.

but really it's like $15 and is stupid fun so who cares about balance?

I got a lvl 30 apprentice in local play before we realized there was ranked play with online events and shit, where I got 14 apprentice, 15 huntress and 23 squire because bf keeps remaking like an asshole.

Game is a lot fun, currently have 70 Apprentice and 40ish Squire on the rank server(also have a couple characters on Open, but i probably won't bother using them till some good mods come out). Probably going to work on unlocking the Halloween costumes later today now that you can get them on hard mode.

    Steam ID is DeadFenix3

Actually, huntress is fucking amazing for hero builds(piercing shot, omg, piercing shot) and while i like trap Huntress better, they take way to much work to keep up compared to even the monks aura's, which btw, are fucking broken once they've been properly leveled.

Damn! I really like the look of Monk which was what I started as and I was planning on building hero stats rather than tower ones too! way to destroy that dream! But yeah, it was really fun but probably only because me and my friends were in the same room, I definitely don't think this game would be as good alone or with strangers.

Lots of fun, love the visual look of the game too, this sort of cel-shaded look that's becoming real prevalent in indie/independent developer games is a nice look I think.

If you can get a decent weapon, a good skeleton gun shouldn't be to hard to find, they can hit up to two enemies(use to be more, but I think the last patch changed it, still really good though) while doing good damage and shooting fast. One guy I know was doing about 10k dps to the dummies in the tavern while only about level 30-40. Though this will require a shit load of mana for upgrading attack, that applies to every hero who tries to dps.

Hero build huntress with a high normal damage weapon with a genie is amazing damage just spamming piercing shot.

On the first playthrough, monk auras are pretty meh (you're likely doing easy/medium stuff for a campaign run), but monks are very valuable in party play or support solo play.

You can level multiple classes and swap in build phases, which is where monk shines. There are a lot of challenges (hard or insane) that pretty much require monk ensnare towers and drain strength towers to deal with floods of powerful enemies (ogres/kobolds). Lightning is great on its own too (does like 750/tick later on without upgrades).

Apprentice towers greatly benefit from ensnare, as do squire towers since shit will be mowed down by cannon balls/harpoons/fireball/whatever towers before they can ever reach your defenses. I'd say Huntress has the least synergy with Monk, all things considered.

Example of what you could do (solo play, or maybe people in your party don't have a particular class/spec):
Build defense as a squire, support with monk auras, build AA/DPS towers with apprentice, and use huntress to roam/dps/repair/upgrade

Those classes can be effective at either hero damage or tower damage. There really isn't a cookie cutter way to play each class unless you intend on doing solo or duo play, and even then there's some wiggle room.

My 70 huntress (hero damage specced) is pulling about 55k DPS using a pretty crummy quality von wolf, so it does get much better later on. Unless you have a lot of mana, don't expect to get 5 digit DPS anytime before 70.

If anyone needs help with running dungeons, or if you have any questions, hit me up on steam or on here. Don't ask for power levels or freebies though if you don't at least have a 70 already!

Been playing the crap outta this on steam also. So far I have a tower build squire at 54 and a hero huntress at 60. feel free to add me on steam: Koulmaz

for huntress if you want a pretty good weapon, do medium or hard Chicken challenge. you get a grenade launcher type gun that's pretty good. does splash damage and a good knockback. mines fully buffed and does 2k damage with 12k piercing shot. Not grand but pretty good till I get a blasticus from insane assault.

I've seen it hyped on their front page, but haven't checked the game out. Guess I need to see if there is a demo.

Where do I pick up a decent early game Huntress weapon? Right now I'm like 14 and my weapons have been absolute trash so far and considering I'm trying to build a Hero damage character it means I pretty much just leech in every game I'm in which I don't like doing =/ I do like my monk though but my squire friend just makes me look so unuseful exceptfor ensnare aura I guess.

This game is insanely fun. For the price you pay you're getting a huge amount of content and the game has plenty of challenges and it feels very rewarding when you get the right strategy down to beat a level.

I tried Huntress but the traps take too much upkeep and it gets kind of tiresome. I switched to Squire and the game got a lot more relaxing/fun.

If you own Portal they give you a pretty good level 25 Huntress weapon. You can also do certain challenges and they always give you a weapon for a specific class, I'm not sure which one's give Huntress weapons though.

Also if you beat Boss stages they generally reward you with a nice weapon.

You can get a pretty decent weapon for beating the glitterhelm level. Then from there you can do either raining goblins challenge or chicken challenge for a grenade launcher type weapon. Chicken was easier for me though but the Raining Goblins grenade launcher has a bit better stats. If you can save up like 750,000ish mana you can also try and buy a blasticus from an insane assault run, could always be cheaper though. Not sure. Right now I have the Chicken grenade and I do around 2k splash damage and 12k piercing shots.

message me on steam, I'll run you through chicken or something. I'll try to do raining goblins, see if I can handle that lol

edit: blasticus aren't 2million anymore. my bad. they're cheaper. derp

Been playing this like crazy lately too. Haven't played in a week or so due to losing power for 5 days but I've been looking for people to play with.

    Add me on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198005615196

Would love to do the Halloween mission on hard for costume unlock.

I'm very confused by the online ladder server thing. Is there a way at all to go to the tavern like in single player? Or is it all action all the time? If so that kinda sucks...

You go back to the tavern in ranked mode the same way you do in Open/Local mode. Just hit escape and select return to tavern or whatever the its called.

My biggest gripe with the challenges is the recommended level sometimes doesn't really mean shit. I've done missions that would call for recommended level 25 and had more difficulty on recommended level 50. Also since there's 4 difficulty levels, now am I supposed to know which difficulty = which recommended level.

Also some challenges are completely impossible for certain classes. There's one where you are not allowed to build any towers making a character centered around using towers worth squat. I understand you can level up different characters and use them for different challenges but it seems a bit lazy on the developers behalf.
