Kuno, if you work, check with your employer to see if they have any contracts with any of the cell companies. A lot of places, even stuff like Sears, Best Buy etc, employees can get 10-25% off there bills. They just don't advertise it. If they don't know ,call ATT/Verizon/Sprint and see what they say when you call them.

Honeywell employees get 24% off monthly bills with Sprint, all I had to provide when signing up was my work email address to get the discount applied.

I'm considering getting a new phone and would prefer an android. Currently using generic 'it's a phone' which tbh I can get along with but have been thinking about getting a smartphone.

Was primarily looking at Galaxy S2 vs waiting a bit Nexus Galaxy vs waiting for the next batch (have no idea how far off this is though, only heard about HTC Edge being planned for Q1/Q2 '12 but everyone has been lol'ing at the idea of quad core mobiles)

As for carriers, are they are pretty much the same quality in the UK? I haven't given a shit about mobiles and all I hear about on forums is discussion on US carriers >.> For the S2 it seems Orange (£31/mo, 24mo, 400Min, 3000txt, 750MB Internet with 3GB BT WiFi Openzone) or 3 mobile (£33/mo, 24mo, 500min, 5000txt, Unlimited Internet with apparently no hidden fair usage cap, £35/mo ups it to 2000min with 5000 three to three min) have good deals, I don't really make many calls/texts atm (/foreveralone.jpg) but will probably use the internet if available.

EDIT:: Done a bit more reading and it seems that 3 really has unlimited internet, which would definitely put them way ahead for me.

I have the original droid and get about 1-2 hours of voice calls, 2-3 hours of internet.... I can only imagine what the battery life on 4g would be.

My battery life really isnt too too bad. tho i dont use it too heavily. when i used to play a lot of emulators and stuff it wouldnt be the best :S

Yea from what i've heard doing anything over 4g drains ur battery like mad. But thats just what i've heard i have no personal experience with it.

10 hours on 4g.....battery life is at 63% right now.

However, that's with juice defender running on aggressive.

Its also on a Samsung skyrocket, which had a huge battery compared to other 4g phones.

Technically we don't even have 4g yet. None of these current 4g networks are true 4g yet.

Bought my first smart phone less than a month ago, and so far it (Samsung Galaxy S2) has been working nicely. Its ridiculously expensive though, atleast here in Finland but I couldnt live without it now.
