PC for single player, consoles for multiplayer.
Console for pretty much everything, though I have a rig that can handle pretty much everything. I'm well aware that my PC is superior to my consoles, but I just like 'em better. If I can't get something on a console or it's flawed, I pick it up on PC. Other than that, no real reasons, just personal preference.
I don't know why there's so much fuss over this thread either, I'd wager it's really not that hard for this to be brought up/discussed without people spitting acid in each other's faces.
Either one or the other but not one for everything. Some good games from certain genres aren't available on both platforms. One thing I will say as mentioned, is the ability to aim easier w/ keyboard/mouse for FPS or actually anything requiring aiming. I grew up with the console so the controller is more comfortable for me. I tend to use it for PC if available unless I'm aiming.
Having a shit comp for most of my life, and now getting a PC that should last me a couple of years before I have to upgrade anything (aside from RAM, was low on cash when I built it after getting monitor and shit to go with it so only have 4 GB atm), am definitely a PC person now that I can see the stark contrast between the two. Playing things on console is almost boring to me. Of course I don't have an hdtv in my room and that's where my xbox is so that is a large factor in not liking console anymore. Even if I did have a nice TV to go with my consoles I'd still prolly play mostly on PC because everything is just more... precise.
PC for everything that I can. I bought my PS3 solely to play MGS4. Demons/Dark souls were pleasant surprises. I have a good computer though.
I prefer console because I like trophy hunting and... I dunno, just something about it I suppose. Now that ps3/360 are showing their age and I have a good pc, it's changing. I'm finding myself getting the multiplatform games on pc instead of the console because I'd rather run it in 60 fps over the console's general 30 fps. Definitely PC for shooters and the like
PC about 80% of the time. Own a PS3 mostly for the exclusives, fighting games, PSN, HD remakes, netflix.
I'm pretty bad at games in general, but I've recently built a decent pc for gaming and have come to prefer it for certain games. Online gaming is definitely pc, as I don't own an xbox and PSN is worse overall. SSF4AE runs amazing on pc, even tho its the same netcode. If you prefer console pads, PC is compatible if you don't like mouse/keyboard so control scheme isn't an issue. Also, easier access to illegal games.

Console gaming by a long shot.
PC gaming falls into the category of "more complex but that doesn't equal to more fun".
Everything PC does when it comes to gaming, consoles do better.
nevex is fucking right. i mean come on look at this
brief history of every shitty game ever to disgrace gaming by being on pc
Spoiler: show
Well, to be honest, if it's available on both PC and console, I usually go the PC route. Games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 are so much fun with player modded content. For example:
For shooters, I'd like to be able to play them on consoles, but I simply can't stand using a controller to aim. Maybe one day they'll actually have keyboard + mouse support for console FPS. Well, that and console shooters tend to always have worse graphics than its PC counterpart.
Console, because it's much more affordable, and I rarely had a gaming-capable computer. STandardized controllers (to some extent) also trump out a mouse and keyboard to me, which aren't intuitive controllers when I don't touchtype on anything but a numpad, and can only use a mouse or keyboard accurately with my right hand unless I am looking at the keyboard instead of the screen. Also, a game in a console is just going to boot up and work, without having to deal with background programs and drivers and potential OS problems. I'm not liking the new consoles though, with the need for online connections and firmware updates, and the treatment of console owners by the console companies. I've pretty much stopped getting new consoles after the PS2, Wii, and DS, because my game backlog is so huge, and because of the changes I'm seeing on how newer consoles are working. When I do game on a PC, it is usually emulation of older platforms, and I'm using a PS2 controller adapter, something that wasn't so easily accessible when I had more free time to game in high school.
Consoles have a lower cost of entry paired with how long they tend to get game releases. I can think of several that lasted around 10 years, while a gaming computer has to be upgraded every 2-3 to keep playing new games in my experience.
Then there's the matter, if you are into piracy, that it tends to happen to consoles before an emulator is developed and there's enough processing power to run games accurately. DRM is also usually a joke on consoles, compared to how much you have to set up to bypass it on a PC with all the patching and DRM emulation on virtual drives. A computer is just usually used as a console game storage device and media writing tool in that setup.
The thing about protected saves is somewhat annoying, and I usually end up investing in a transfer device or finding homebrew to bypass that, so I see the point on a PC, since copying a user folder is so easy, at least until they start using TPMs more.
Grew up with consoles, prefer console-centric games so not really a fan of RTS or old school WRPG's.
I do play more on the PC nowadays (mainly indie titles) and I don't regret making a gaming PC one bit but even then the games usually play better with a pad. Bastion, Sequence, Super Meat Boy etc.
I'd say these days I put equally as much time into console, PC, and handheld gaming. In the past it was always one or the other.
I have both.. but the end of the day (I work 9 hours a day on a computer) I want to lay back on my couch and play on the consoles. Am I going to regret getting Skyrim on the PS3? I don't know but if I did it will probably just sit there like DA2 if I have to sit at my computer to play. I haven't played FFXI or and other MMO lately but for FFXI I had it working nicely on my laptop and just used HDMI out for the TV. But this only seems to work with windower. Getting that to work with other games is a bitch.
Never even had a computer at my house till I went to college. I play a lot of PC games, but IF I HAD TO CHOOSE, I'd say console just because 25 years playing on them.
I thought at one point that console players were getting significantly better at first person shooters, wondering if they could approach the power and speed of the mouse keyboard setup and take us down. Then I did some research, found out that the auto-aim and the aim-lock on consoles is set at a stupidly high level, zooming in semi near an opponent will just lock your cursor on them, shooting pretty close to them will pop it over as well. While the controller might be kind to you, do you ever wonder if its kindness is artificial because of the aim assistance the developer put into the game for you.
Im firmly in the PC preference, I only have consoles because some games werent going to be available for PC. If I have a choice on a game, it goes to PC first, console later, however its not always for the reason you think. I know the games on the PC are superior by far but the cost associated with the console purchases are a major turnoff as well. 60 bucks for a game that will probably only last a few hours is a significant detractor to me. Ill use batman arkham city as an example. The game was delayed for PC, so I havent played it yet, however I would have purchased it for my 360 on day one had it not been 60 dollars. Compare that to the 50 dollar PC pricetag bundled with an additional 20% discount if you owned batman AA on steam. I paid 40 dollars for a premium title on a pre-order that will look considerably better than the console variant, with particle effects and physics that the consoles cant even emulate. I wonder sometimes why the game was delayed on PC, maybe more polish, maybe they needed to fix something, but it was probably the console greed side of it knowing that their version couldnt compare to the PCs cheaper and more easily accessible variant. Ill still play the game with a controller though, because it lends itself better to one, Ill play my fighting games with a controller, and my JRPGs with one if any are ever ported to it. MMOs and WRPGs, first person shooters, and of course RTS games will remain firmly in the mouse and keyboards capable hands.
PC for just about everything, but I don't have a problem playing games on console. I just prefer PC in most cases because of the power you get from a good rig. When developers properly leverage PC hardware, there's just no comparison visually. There is definitely something to be said for lounging around on a couch with a controller in your hand though. Sitting in a computer chair all day at work and then doing the same at home is pretty meh sometimes.
Also, FPS games on console are bad.
