Senki Zessho Symphogear Ep1

Pretty decent first episode that would have been a thousand times better had there been actual good buildup and made us care about these characters first before heading into the shock factor. Some intense action and above average animation would definitely makes it stand out more but it's hard to expect this from a new studio. Overall probably the best first episode of the new season. of course that's not saying much considering what has aired thus far.

PS I never thought this would be the first show to start copying elements from Madoka Magica.

Indeed, my feeling while watching were "talk about a rushed episode, that wants to tell to much too fast".

The transformation at the end was pretty surprising, but the first one reminded me totally of Mai-Otome

Definitely has potential. I wasn't on board until the bit at the end, hopefully that's a sign of interesting stuff to come.

Zero no Tsukaima F Ep1

There was nothing particularly outstanding about this opener, but I can't deny it exuded a lot of my nostalgia of the series. It was fun and not too serious, and hopefully it keeps on entertaining in following episodes.

Also don't expect any fanservice in the levels of DXD, Mayo Chiki, IS etc. Hell Nisemonogatari had more erotic scenes lol.

Nisemonogatari Ep 1

Shaft knows how to satisfy peoples fetish for visual insanity.

There are lots of things I could say about this episode, but one thing I particularly liked as with the first season is how the dialogue mixing places aurally inside a character's head at times. Sometimes this is used to distinguish thoughts from speech, but other times it's used to compliment a visual perspective from a character's eyes, and that effect is really amazing. They managed also to cram a great deal of Light Novel material into this episode, but it didn't feel choppy or disjointed like the first episode of first season. I think it speaks to the strength of this show that I can't really think of any real issues unless fanservice isn't your cup of tea.

Easily the hit of the season.

I was expecting something tolerable. I knew there was going to be a lot of fanservice and whatnot and, to be honest, I didn't mind that. It's just that every fucking character pissed me off because of how fucking annoying they were. Literally, all the guys ever talked about were tits the entire episode. It was painful.

surprisingly, the manga doesn't "sit and talk about tits" but it sure does show it alot

UTW dropped Nise until the blu-rays. No word if commie is dropping it or not, but if they do release it'll probably just be CR scripts. Hoping they do so because while the CR translation is apparently good, their typesetting sucks.

Yeah I hope Crunchy can actually translate Nisemonogatari and translates the cuts and stuff too.

I don't understand why fansubbers are so against subbing a show just because it's simulcast though, like it really doesn't make sense to me. We want them to sub yet they don't because some shitty group that they are supposed to hate (Crunchyroll) is subbing it? Don't understand the fansubbing community at all.

I think it's just that Crunchyroll could probably actually take legal action in the states against fansubber, and UTW don't wanna risk it

I'm gonna hate pausing every scene to read the novel excerpt :/

You're over thinking it. Fansubbing exists so that we can watch the anime. If there's already a good translation being put out there before you can start, why bother at all. It's like if I tried to put a group together to translate ben-to. Why would I do that when gg already did a good job?

I don't blame UTW for dropping nise. It's a lot of work to translate shaft shows, and even more to typeset and time everything. They've decided they're going to hold off until the blu-rays since CRs translation is good.

Commie should be releasing it with the CR script, and better typesetting. Depending on how long it takes them I'll either be using them or horrible.

edit: Having just watched horrible, I can deal with this. The translation is spot on with only a handful of minor errors at wost. The typesetting was good enough that I don't want to wait hours upon hours for a release with better typesetting.

Commie nise is out, and it's half the file size. I probably won't be able to wait 6-7 hours for the commie version since it airs on saturday unless I have work to do for school. But I foresee myself replacing the horriblesubs version with the commie version for archiving until blu-rays(utw?) anyway.

Crunchyroll is supposed to be known for bad subs though, which is why I found it odd. Is Commie their own translation or are they just ripping the Crunchyroll script and adding new fonts or something?

CR used to be horrendous, but they're ok now.

Commie uses CR scripts and their own typesetting/font, so yes. CR is decent quality now.
