Ignoring the debate above, how the fuck can a show about an old card game be so god damn thrilling and enjoyable? Chihaya does it again with another stellar episode.

It's very easy for you to say that now, but Ano Natsu is directed by the same guy who did Toradora and Ano Hana, two of my favorites animes in the last few years. Yōsuke Kuroda (writer) also worked on Excel Saga, Honey and Clover and Gundam 00, three series that I liked. It's not like it was obvious it would end up like this...in fact, I've seen more people mention "Toradora" than "onegai teacher" in relation to this show before it aired.


Also, it doesn't matter who wrote it, when a studio is willing to pump money into a show like this one, I'm going to expect more than this.

This x 100. Honey and Clover is easily one of my top 5's. Oh wells. I think I remember watching at least one episode of Onegai Teacher but I can understand why I probably dropped it.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Hahaha. This one is a lot funnier than I expected.

I was expecting it to be a little bit more on the shounen-ai side. It's pure comedy. Tomokazu Sugita, as always, is absolutely hilarious.

A must watch this season for comedy fans.

Ditto on Daily Lives of High School Boys. That show is the best comedy of the season and I recommend EVERYONE give it a try. It's not the best comedy ever but it's well done both in writing, delivery, and content.

Also, Another's artwork is enough alone to keep it. Beautiful and detailed in every scene. Not sure about the characters or the story but I'm hooked.

Ano Natsu sucks.

Sounds like how I was similarly amazed about Hikaru no Go turning a chess-like board game into a thrilling experience. A good writer will always be able to build that suspension.

It always make me sad when a series that is targeting another demographic beat the crap out of everything else that is supposed made for me. Maybe I'm just filtering the bad shoujo, but they seem to be constantly better.

Both of them losing their composure in the middle of the match was terribly cute...especially to something like that.

I can't say I enjoyed this episode as much as some of you. It's not bad, and I laughed more than I was asking for (the nipple shaving was great), but it wasn't special either. It's the same kind of humor you see I see in every non slice-of-life/fanservice comedy . If you're not tired of the genre, it's funny enough to watch, but I'm not sure I will keep.

I'm also curious where the "daily life" come in in this show. I mean, sure, there is no weird setting like Baka to Test, but it's definitively not a slice of life, just standard comedy (not that it's a problem...I'm just curious why it's labeled as slice of life).

Based on the intro, there is going to be as many girls as guys. Not that fan art is a good indications of the screentime, but this is the cast.

Is Chihayafuru Shoujo? rofl. Holy fuck thats good Shoujo then cause I couldn't even tell. But yeah, Chihaya just gets better and better as you go on.
