I probably spend more time looking for anime to watch than i do actually watching it anymore.but now it's evolved into this hobby wherein I collect names of shit I want to watch when my time isn't completely consumed by what I'm currently watching.

24 minutes of Kaiki conversation would just be boring. What I meant by "imagine" was why would you do the bath scene with no fanservice. How do you do the toothbrush scene with no fanservice. Why would you do the twister scene with no fanserive? It isn't meant to happen that way.Everything involving Kaiki had no fanservice, and they were some of the best skits this season. It's not that hard to "imagine" what it would be like when we already have example.
Kinda hard to make the monogatari series without fanservice, considering it was written to be pretty hardcore fanservicey

only kizu is fully translated
Someone say EVOL?

I want to dig holes with Andy in a totally non-sexual way. Total bro.
I'll give EVOL a shot, I've only been watching Daily Lives and Lagrange this season, but the latter is feeling more like hype now as the only likeable character is Lan who will apparently no longer be greeting anyone with woof. Madoka's circle shit is dumb.
None of those scenes really advance the plot or the characters other than to build out Koyomi's Harem. I used the word disappointed and it still applies because the storytelling had been so strong in eps 1-8 of Bakemonogatari. I rather liked the Kaiki confrontation. It contrasted well with the over-the-top brother vs. sister beatdown immediately preceding it.
I had a similar transition. Went from Toonami (DBZ/Outlaw/Tenchi Muyo) to Adult Swim (Full Metal/Yu Yu/Cowboy/Trigun/Inuyasha) to the beginning of the youtube era in which I missed so much class in high school spending all night just watching all 180 episodes of Naruto back to back for hours.
I miss the days of youtube where you could find entire series subbed and in decent quality and not have to search through stupid 0:30 clips and fake videos.![]()
Watching anonymous subs in probably shitty quality on youtube? Why would you even want to do that?
Screw hater, Lagrange was great. Lan's greeting was one of the few thing that annoyed me, and we got a good explanation for it.
Other than the unneeded fanservice, I seriously have no complains to make about this show. It looks great, it's lighthearted enough to make me laugh, and the story somehow works (I even nitpicked a few weeks ago that it was stupid to have human looking aliens, and they addressed that).
Chihayafuru/Lagrange/Another/Mouretsu have all been enjoyable for me. Also liking what I've seen of Black rock shooter so far.
Except for the whole thing where the dialog is word for word taken from the light novels. But you know, it's got nice visuals/animation so it's obviously fanservice and not related to the plot at all. And bath scene didn't advance Shinobu's character? Did you really just say that? Excuse me while I go rewatch all the conversations she had in Bakemonogatari. Oh wait...None of those scenes really advance the plot or the characters other than to build out Koyomi's Harem.
I liked it as well, but 24 minutes of it every episode would just not be the same.I rather liked the Kaiki confrontation. It contrasted well with the over-the-top brother vs. sister beatdown immediately preceding it.
But then it would be too DEEP for me.It probably would be boring for someone who watches animes with his dick.Spoiler: show
It's not the fanservice that made the character's progress, that was his point.Originally Posted by deadgye
I misspoke. I should have said that the fanservice in and of itself did nothing to help the plot/characterization of the story. But this is self-evident, fanservice is by definition useless to storytelling.
I also don't accept 'well it's in the light novels!' because it dodges the question of poor storytelling. Rather, it gives support to the idea that slavish devotion to the source material should not be the goal of an adaptation.
Let's think about the first minutes of the very first episode of Bakemonogatari. Hanekawa's panty flash is on the surface of things fanservice but there is surprisingly a fair bit of storytelling at work here. Obsessing over the panty flash is what causes Koyomi to go off the beaten path (snerk) and encounter a vampire in the first place. I also liked to think that the first few times we catch Koyomi staring at girls in slo-mo (Beyond the opening sequences) it is being conveyed to the audience that he has superhuman vision thanks to his vampirism. But then they show an invisible snake getting shoved down Sengoku's throat. And then suddenly every girl loves Koyomi. And then Nisemonogatari.
Blah. It's not bad enough that I want to drop the show. I'm invested heavily in the show's supernatural hook and am positively dying to see Kizumonogatari, but for a while now I've felt the show is turning into just another harem anime. 24 minutes of wincest doesn't help the show's cause at all.
I've heard somewhere that Nisemonogatari itself was at the point where Nishio Ishin was wavering on whether or not the series is going to continue, and that causes the storytelling quality to go down a few notch and it's more just him fucking around and seeing how it goes.
Then again, it's just hearsay, much like the 2ch rumor on how Hanazawa Kana turned him down, which might explain why Nadeko to probably go into the worst possible end in the novel now, so take it with a grain of salt.
I do question the decision to release Nise before Kizu, but I suppose Kizu would fit a movie a lot better, and if Shinbou was planning to animate the entire series, it'd be better to release Nise now rather than after the movie is done.
The movie OP by Maaya is gonna be gdlk, though I have a bad feeling SHAFT might troll it into Kamiya singing it since the chapter name is Koyomi Vamp.
Wow, this turned into a thing. I don't think the fanservice is essential at all, but it makes me laugh and it's entertaining in a show that has solid writing and characters. So while I could indeed imagine it without, I guess I don't necessarily want to.
Anyway, Another 8:
I liked the set up and pay off for this episode. Really drives home the point they're trying to make about the curse.
Black Rock Shooter:
I started watching this and you know, it's not bad. I mean, it's bad in a sense, but constructed in a way that makes it mysterious and kind of gripping. These girls are absolute freaks and I guess making friends is hard? I like the action/fight scenes, and it's not what I expected as I find I cheer on...the blue girl with a cannon arm (seriously, name?)
It's weird, mindless and funny (in a good and bad way). I could definitely watch this to see what happens.
Persona:
So I'm late watching this, but I thought it was decent. The Amagi Inn section was never my favourite part of the game, but the bath stuff did make me laugh. As always, Yu is a boss.
I'm waiting for Persona to be done before I watch any of it. I don't have a burning wish to start watching it but I feel almost obliged to after all the hours I put into P4
