    Destroyed Car interior

    Spoiler: show
So recently my wife and I have been dealing with our dog who has developed separation anxiety and boredom. She was never a problem dog before until the last 6 months or so she started by just escaping our yard (2 acres) after we would leave the house and it has progressively gotten worse to where the other day she destroyed 4 of my wife's jackes/coats in our laundry room. The one thing we could always count on before was she was really good in the car. If we took her with us she would sleep in the car and be fine. Well tonight we took her with us in the car to a birthday party and when we left to come home the entire interior of the car was destroyed. All the panels were pulled off, the headliner was ripped and eaten, the visors were destroyed. My wife was really upset about it. We have another dog who is younger and male and he hasn't been an issue but he also doesn't help prevent our older female from going crazy, she just doesn't care about him. She isn't food motivated, or treat motivated, or toy motivated, she doesn't really like to play she just wants to sit on our feet or next to us on the couch and sleep. This makes it really hard to train her out of something like this.

Tonight our dog ate the entire interior of my wife's car and now I want to find out how much it will cost to fix. She has a 2006 Ford Focus manual 4 door ZX4. I will need to replace the headliner, both visors, the weather striping on the front driver door and the left rear passenger door, and possibly a few of the hard panels that are trim around the doors.

I will have to catalog the complete carnage in the morning and figure out which parts are still usable and which ones are completely toast.

Anyone have any ideas on where to look for parts/quotes? Anyone ever deal with fixing this sort of thing? Anyone know where I can get a good quote for parts so I know if the local shop is trying to rip me off?

I really appreciate any help with this.
    Spoiler: show
My wife is pregnant right now and I really hope we can get this fixed for not too much because we are saving as much as possible for the baby.

Edit: Spoilered irrelevant story to prevent trolling/derailing. Just need help/info about fixing the car.

big stretch but ok, my advice, go to a auto repair shop and ask them. Its a ford focus so its prolly going to be cheap.
My ex has a ford focus and honestly, they are not worth the time or the money, save up and buy yer wife a better car.

If it helps I have a 95 saturn 2 door I used to use for work. My mom used to work at a bodyshop and knew a guy that did headliners. He redid my headliner and 2 visors for around $100, but that was a side job and a friend price. No idea what a shop would charge you

I do want to say you're being an incredible dickhead by posting the story of how your pets personality changed and messed up your car then getting your dick in a twist dismissing people someone who tries to point out that maybe a bigger problem is incoming with your dog's sudden behavoir change not the car being messed up. Just a thought.
It's a thread about the car. If he wanted advice on the dog, he'd make a thread about that.

going to be more expensive to fix that shit than to get a new ford focus

    start here:
    http://www.jcwhitney.com

and stop telling people they don't know about dogs because they complain about you leaving yours in the car for hours, they are correct

Go to a junkyard for the interior pieces, will have to pay someone to do the headliner.

When the baby comes, that dog its either going to eat your house or eat the kid. Normal, abnormal animals piss in the corner or need to be let outside to live for a while when environmental/construction/baby changes such as this happen. Vet employees can put animals down for free.

My wife is going to get a prescription for medicine from her work on monday to try to help with this. We are also working with one of her friends from work who used to train German shepherds for the army and is really good with dog behavior and training. We are working on the problem from both directions for sure.

Ansem I know it is a stretch for anyone to have any information here but I did some searching online and found very little to indicate how much it would cost though headliner replacements are a fairly common thing to do so I thought maybe someone would have an idea on a ballpark of what it might cost labor wise. It would be nice to have an idea of what it should cost so on monday when I call the local body shops in town I can know if they are trying to rip me off or not. We will definitely work on replacing her car eventually but I didn't really want her to have to drive around with the ruined interior even for a couple months before we can replace the car with something nicer.
Should post pics to see the dmg

Take it to a detail shop before a dealer. A detailer can do a few of those pieces (or at least my stepdad does some of that stuff). If the headliner is cloth, there's people around town that can replace it for next to nothing. I think I had the headliner replaced in my old minivan for around $100. Pretty sure a detailer can do the weatherstripping as well, should be able to get a kit for pretty cheap. All of the plastic stuff will probably have to be completely replaced.

Yeah this is the right answer. There are alot of custom car shops that do interiors.

I realize this isn't what you posted about but my dog also has separation anxiety and the vet gave us something called 'Rescue Remedy' and it works pretty well. It's a herbal tincture maybe you should check it out.

    Tincture ... so rpgish ^^

Seriously, go to a junk yard if you have actual damaged intererior pieces. It sounds weird but me and my friends would travel around on a saturday to all the junkyards within like 100miles and litterly just ask if we couild walk the yard. Most places were cool and said sure go ahead. ideally, you'll be able to find every piece you need to replace, as well as some undamaged interior clips (the parts that hold stuff together) for under 20 bucks, and then you can PAINT IT UP COOL AND MOD YOUR FOCUS. Sorry that last part is not necessary

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. We are going to start with the pick and pull for any non colored pieces like the door weather stripping, and if we get lucky maybe some of the hard plastic panels. Then I will contact a body shop in town to find out estimates for the headliner and installation. Thanks Plow for that website I will check it out for parts as well.

It sounds like just the headliner alone shouldn't cost too much maybe $100 for labor at the most and not much more for the parts. It is the cloth type headliner not anything else more fancy.

I am glad to have a little bit of an idea on how much it will cost now.

man I was curious and checked this out and it's like homeopathy but for hipsters diluted water memory shit. Goddamn herbs for irrational thoughts, I thought I'd found the holy grail.

Junkyard is going to be your best best. Prices are negotiable. But make sure you do some research to make sure you don't offer too much.
