No sound while playing Elder Scrolls V

    AMD Turion(tm) II Dual-Core Processor 2.40 GHZ
    4 Gigs of RAM
    ATI High Definition Audio Device

Game won't play with any sound, tried updating sound drivers and searched online to no avail. Any help please?

Are you trying to use sound over HDMI?

No, but I tried using HDMI to see if sound works. I loaded Dragon Age and Oblivion plus other games I played and the sound works just fine on HDMI and on laptop. (I'm using my laptop btw)

It might be an issue with the sample rate with this particular game.

Go to your sound properties [Control Panel - Sound - Right click on default playback device - Properties] and click on the advanced tab. You should be able to change the default format. Try to fiddle with those settings a little bit (such as reducing it from 96khz to 48khz) to see if you can get any sound from the game

Ah, the specs you listed would indicate that the sound is set to output over HDMI is why I ask. Is it that it's not working for headphones/etc? HDMI audio is typically a second device. Just wondering if you have that set as the default or something.

There have also been some folks that have fixed some crash-on-startup issues with the game by setting their audio sampling rate at 44100Hz 24 or 16-bit. You might double check that too.

Just tried each and everyone, didn't work.

Also, another thing I forgot to mention. My friend put the game on his USB Flash drive and copied it to mine. His works perfectly fine and we run the same OS and bit.

When you say it was copied over, does that mean you installed it from the flash or you just had a set of the game's files and loaded off of that? If you didn't install it then there is a chance it is a registry issue; something not propagated that should be.

Just install it from original source.

If you do not have the original source, download a torrent.
