    PC Headphones for Gaming

Never really been a headset person, but I am looking for a good HD/Surround sound headset for PC. Any suggestions/links?

    Thanks :D

In my experience the Razer Barracuda's have had the best surround sound, but I had two pairs snap on me (the pair and the warranty replacement). I don't know if its just my head, or a poor design, but there's a lot of pressure that gets applied at the part of the frame holding the earcups when the headset is worn. For me the give wasn't enough so the stress fractured the headset.

I use a pair of Logitech G35's right now, mostly because I was scared of having to spend another $80 on broken headsets. The G35's have built in swivels where the frame holds the earcups to conform to the shape of your head rather than stretching the frame.

I can tell when the surround sound mode is activated, but I'm not really an audiophile so I can't tell you how good it is. All I can say is that I notice something compared to when virtual surround sound is off. But, comparatively in that regard I think I felt a better sense of space with the Barracuda set. Take this with a grain of salt however since FPS aren't my mainstay so surround has never been a completely vital part of my game and I might not know how to judge it correctly.

If you just want a really good pair of headphones and discrete speakers or virtual surround sound aren't that important, I've always heard really good things about the SteelSeries Siberias. You could also go for music headphones like Grado's or Senheissers.

unless you're making music with programs like FL10, SVT or Reason, you dont need to get the high, HIGH HIGHHHHHHH quality headphones, unless you need to hear every single individual miniscule pitch, but even than. this one can still deliver at only 20 bucks.

i used to use gaming headsets, but i just use this with a high quality mic separately. this is perfect, and cheap. i've had this for over a year and a half and it still works just as good as the day i got it, and i've had this everywhere. i've dropped this on the snow in europe, i've gotten it wet at the beach in Florida, i've have this thing get bashed by 45 lb Olympic bars from the gym, stepped on by ex girlfriends and it works FLAWLESSLY. they're easy to clean, and my sweat has never made the moisture wear and tear on the ear cups, like my old logitechs. i will probably upgrade in about 6 months or so, but for now, these work perfect and its easy to clean lol.

but if you want quality, get the G35. it is like ferrari of gaming headsets in my opinion. but wait until black friday. i think compusa has a deal on them, but i'll have to double check. im not completely sure

edit: i bought these about year and half ago when this was like the #1 pair of headphones being sold lol. but i guess there are better alternatives now, if you check the reviews out.

    *JVC HA-S700
seem to be on the ball, too lol. but i dont know how durable they are
