OKAY. I feel like I've finally settled on a team of Wesker/Magnus/Akuma.

It sounds vanilla as hell so all I really need to know is if Akuma assist still works well with Mag. If so, I will be in there.

Akuma is definitely great for Magneto (and Wesker for that matter). Another thing you got going with that team is if you DHC or if you start Magneto on point instead, you can do Magnetic Blast to cover you going in and do an unblockable with Wesker assist.

From those 3 I'd pick Hawkeye.

Yeah that's what I ended up going with, one of my local friends plays that team and is about the same level as me in Marvel, he recommended I pick that so we can share tech and such. Oddly enough I actually seem to have gotten better at the game without playing it in months(maybe just better at FG in general), I cleared Nova/Frank missions up to 10 and am close to clearing Hawkeye, I used to not be able to do XF cancel combos at all lol

Bought this game today. I'm curious if the team Vergil/Dante/Akuma(in that order) is any good? Big DMC fan, so that's why those two are in there, and Akuma just 'cause I hear he's an 'easy anchor' or something like that(although, he was always my favorite in SF ever since he first appeared, so that was part of the reason). And if so, who should I learn with first? I'm veeeery casual when it comes to FG's, so I'm pretty much asking who, out of those three, it would be best to learn the mechanics with.

Oh, and Zero is another character I'm interested in, if there's a better setup with him in the team.

Zero/Dante/Vergil is a top tier team setup. If you like those characters anyway just go for it! Search for Mihe videos on YouTube for his fights.
