"Merida and the Forest of Fear"? That's a fucking stupid name.
I'm loving how Merida looks more like a normal teenage girl than a tall, lanky, drop-dead gorgeous princess like in every Disney movie ever. She's got crazy hair that looks very difficult to manage and her face isn't the epitome of magazine-aisle beauty. It's about time we broadened our scope of 'beauty'.
On another note, I wonder how many ginger-haters will avoid this movie simply because of their aversion. >_>
You'll notice that "Merida and the Scary Forest" is brought to you by the makers of "Carl's Flying House" and "Toy Story 3."
Some things just need to be translated differently.
The Japanese name sounds perfectly fine for a translation to me, at least for there. The theme of the forest spirits/curse would resonate more with that audience, while a strong willed little girl more with Western audiences.
Yeah I realize that it's totally aimed toward a Japanese audience. Whereas we over here like bold one-word titles (Up, Brave etc). I personally just think it sounds like a REALLY little children's book or something.
Get hype
I want it to be June now![]()
FFFF 2 mo ;(
Saw it tonight. Passable. Tangled was stronger on multiple levels but Brave has Scottish people so it passes. Not Pixar's best by a longshot though.
If 1 is Cars 2 and Up/Wall-E is 100 where does this rank.
I'd say high 70's? I really enjoyed it. The "curse" was definitely different than what I expected and ultimately a let down, but overall the movie was beautiful.
Edit: Also, am I the only one who saw Tangled and was meh about it? I was MAD hyped for that movie through friends and family and didn't see it til long after it was out on DVD, but when I did... Letdown. Good movie, sure, but was definitely not game breaking as I was anticipating.
Best part about tangled was Max ;D
Compared to Max, the horse in Brave was like... too boring
I felt the movie was a 7/10 too. just wasn't their strongest yet, the animation and visuals were incredible though.
there was a lack of souls in this film
Did the motion-blur effect bother anybody else? It made it difficult to focus on the the key part of some of the scenes. I'm wondering if there was a frame rate issue or something. Movie looked absolutely gorgerous but at the end I was concerned there was something wrong with my eyes![]()
0/100, no "fuckin english bastids", also no hard drugs/drinking combined with fighting.
Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
I didn't have any problems until the camera started panning over the hills/cliffs early on, at which point something horrible caused things to blur and lose focus. It'll probably look better on a disc release, or my theater's projector was having issues. It was pretty bad but only for that one scene, Everything else was pretty sharp.
Watched in 2D btw.
our 2D had no issues
