My attempts to confirm the merit BP formula at 95 were in vain. INT appears to matter much more than previously thought, I think.

Gear wise? Yeah, SMN has some awesome gear.
Everything else? Kinda meh.
I'm not speaking about how the AF3 SMN is godly but about how Blood Pacts strangely scales with our current level.
A quick experiment on the server test :
Wild Rabbit, Lightsday
Lvl 75 SMN (naked, no merits)
Thunderstorm lvl 5 : 1199
Lvl 75 BLM/RDM (naked, no merits, 81 INT)
Blizzard IV : 865
Lvl 99 SMN (naked, no merits)
Thunderstorm lvl 5 : 1681
Lvl 99 BLM/RDM (naked, no merits, 101 int)
Blizzard IV : 974
Blizzard V : 1465
That's doesn't mean I'm fully against new offensives Blood Pacts of course. (a real piercing BP and an AoE BP will be very welcome for me)
I was having trouble dissociating INT and Level when I was doing testing on them. I think both matter, but I didn't have enough patience or willpower to confirm it when I could at most get 1 sample every 45 seconds.
No bait. I am just saying go do the Earth and/or Water staff. You will find that 95% is much lower than 95% on EP mobs and you will want to tear your hair out if you have no other sources of damage. (i.e. Doing it solo.)
Honestly, it is ridiculous that any job with capped/close to capped skill does not have 100% accuracy on mobs 20-30 levels lower, another painfully stupid mechanic in this game.
I wasn't considering the INT of the summoner, but I guess that's possible. I meant Avatar INT, which we pretty much can't change outside of Abyssea.
Are any of the new pets capable of healing like the Snow Rabbit jug?
IMO they should just uncap all jugs. Make NQ jugs last 60 mins, HQ last 120 mins, and make Beast Affinity increase stats.
Problem solved for the most part. (Yes some pets will be useless like who'd use the regular rabbit when you can use the "Wild Carrot" Rabbit instead?)
Also I'm thinking they should just remove charge requirement altogether (why do BST need their pets to not only have 100% TP but charges too >.<?)
I did forget about DRG 2 hours. Yep pre-Azure Lore DRG were useless in Snoll too I'd imagine (before they "rightfully" nerfed Snoll so you didn't need <insert job with useful 2 hour here> to defeat it).
dINT would be enough, because that's what I'm assuming it's working with. Another option is to just change the monster you're fighting, which I also tried. I basically went around BPing everything in East Ron to try and get every (low) value of INT and look for the minimum difference between them. I got bored before I hit anything conclusive though.
Well, I think it's fairly obvious avatar INT affects their magical BPs, considering the difference between my BPs when I use Minikin and when I don't, in Abyssea. Granted, I never actually did any real tests and recorded the numbers, but I'm fairly sure I have seen significant differences between Minikin and no Minikin.
Video is moot because Paladin is in it and not NIN.
You had to try to win it with NIN (with no THF), BST, DRG, <insert more jobs with useless 2 hours here>.
Though seriously speaking - I said I'd "imagine" DRG were useless (I forgot DRG had the ability to jump and do decent damage without their 2 hour of course >.>.).
Also I leveled RDM to 60 to get past that fight before they nerfed if you were talking about that too.
(Inb4 - Someone posts a video of 6 BST defeating Snoll pre-nerf.)
I think you missed the point of what he's LOLing at.
Read what you wrote lol.
Okay then - "If" it's terms of the nerf - The first wave of "CoP" nerfs only affected Tenzen + Snoll (yet people were quick to yell OMG THEY RUINED COP!). (Really if you don't trust me, look at the previous patch notes. In fact I can look them up directly if you want >.>)
I agree with the nerf because both are zerg fights.
It's hardly a challenge if you have the right job setup. All you do is 2 hour, have one person use salt, then win. Nerfing it to be a non-challenge is fine because it isn't a fair fight. People with the right job setups (hint - Anything with PLD and lots of DDs) had an easy time with the fight.
So they should instead make it fair and nerf it.
Fights like 6-4 (weapons), Ouryu (though really easy mana burn), etc weren't nerf (they weren't nerf at all until they removed the level cap.) because those were fair fights that had no problem of "lolNIN" like in Snoll.
If you don't have the right jobs (NIN with no THF) then it's nearly impossible (NIN will be just a waste of space because NIN won't be able to keep hate or even deal a decent amount of damage as NIN/WAR or NIN/DRK). BST is a bit too.
Remember back then people had only 1-2 jobs at 75 so it wasn't as simple as picking the right job either.
Finally I said I went past it by leveling RDM to 60 (it was already level 50ish) before the nerf. (So yes I have the "cred" to back up the fact that the fight is easy with the right job setup. All I did was chain spell, Fire II, then convert, then win. Oh yeah PLD tank too, not lolNIN.)
However just because I got past it (or others) doesn't mean it didn't need a nerf for being an unfair fight to some (anyone with NIN but no THF). Although by the time it was nerfed it was kind of moot since most people had more than 3-4+ jobs at 60+.
In either case I'd consider Snoll + Tenzen to be more "breather" fights than one for actual challenge (instead of some long nearly 60 min fight like the CoP 6-4 weapons, you get 2 min zerg fights). They still serve that role even after the nerf (just now NIN can enjoy being useful or at least not useless).
Dude, we beat that video when the only way to get Shu'Meyu salts was by giving up your first born child...
We did it with DRG (when 2hr was call wyvern) PLD RNG THF BLM RDM. What there has a "rapeface" 2hr?
How is "no thief" relevant? Assassin didnt exist back then (pretty sure atleast), so TA WS didnt exist, meaning the mob had to be turned for the thf to drop big WS's.
I'm sorry you sucked and could only clear cop with SMNx6
RNG and RDM were both pretty solid for that fight, iirc. RDM was one of the best DDs for it, in my opinion. Chainspell -> Convert can do a lot of damage very quickly if you were skilled up and had decent gear. I remember leveling BLM to 60 for the fight and then realizing I should go RDM anyway.
Assassin did exist. They added it a long time ago. Still, THF and PLD were both worthless. DRG probably got 2-3 WSs off and the BLM likely got 2-3 spells off. RDM and RNG probably carried your group.
For my group, we were carried by RDM and MNK/DRK.
