Anime Recommendation Please!

There is a lot of already good recommendations in this thread so ill just add some that i feel deserve some credit.
Not really comprehensive at all but just some shows i had just recently watched for the first time:

Strange Dawn - Thought it was a good adventure/fantasy type anime, it was enjoyable to watch and didn't feel stupid. Despite its appearance its actually quite good. Only thing i didnt like about this show was the abrupt end. Probably not on Netflix.

Serial Experiments Lain - Interesting to watch and to interpret, probably one of the more original anime i've seen as far as storytelling goes and also it can be confusing at first. I believe Netflix has the DVDs but not on their streaming service.

Perfect Blue - Not a series, but its one of the better psychological-thriller anime available. I believe it is on netflix streaming and i cant recommend this film enough.

Good shit so far, reading up on both posts so far and all of them seem pretty interesting. Perfect Blue visually seems akin to Akira but it's only a film and the genre is enticing.

Bonus points if their are any that touch upon transhumanism, existentialism, greek mythology references, futuristic, etc. Deep, moving stories.

First up is Eden of the East. Doesn't seem too bad so far.

Lain fits these more than anything, aside from the greek mythology. The entire show is pretty much about those topics and other themes, the only downside that i can see to this show that may be off putting is that there is very little "action" and that the story can be convoluted at times; at one point i felt like my brain was hurting trying to make sense of what was happening while watching it the first time.

Hope you like Eden of the East, ive heard of it before but havent really looked into it, im always looking for new anime to watch and im starting to run out of new stuff, although i have about 3 series i havent watched yet already downloaded.

Has an interesting concept to save the least. The main character has his memory erased and is given a cell phone that allows him to buy stuff and track the other people of his kind, and is given 10 billion dollars (yen?) and told he has to save the world or be killed. Off to a good start.

Eden of the East had an interesting concept, but they didn't get the most out of it. Was still a fun watch, not what I would get first tho.

Wasn't sure where else to ask, but can I get the highlights of the last 3 seasons? Not picky about genre, just want to skip the junk and get caught up.

+1 for Penguindrum, UN-GO and Chihayafuru.

Fate Zero if you like the FSN universe (and even if you don't, it's a story told much better than original FSN anime).

Working!! and Ika Musume if you like laughing (conversely avoid these if you hate joy and happiness).

Usagi Drop if you like heart warming stories (though this is 1-2 seasons ago, not sure how far back you wanna go but if you're watching Nichijou...)

Tiger and Bunny if you want an action anime with an interesting twist on setting.

Sacred Seven is pretty meh. I saw the first couple eps and wrote it off as meh. My anime club is full of mech otaku who loved Scryed and were hoping it would be the second coming of something like that. They were generally disappointed, apparently, and ended up thinking it wasn't that great. Don't remember whose subs they were (probably gg or horrible) but they drove me fucking crazy by inserting a variant of the word 'hell' into every single line the demons spoke. Worse than translating those squid puns in Ika Musume.

lol, yeah that pun adaptation shit drive me insane. I had decent hope for sacred seven because at least the geass style character design doesn't look too bad, but i was already bored of it by the second episode.

and i thought ao no exorcist was a boring overrated piece of shit, but i never really did like the long shounen genre.

Ao no Exorcist was ok, at least what I saw. I got maybe 1/3 of the way through it. I don't think I'll go back and watch any though. It had some interesting dynamics/characters. I especially liked the brothers dynamic.

It's not spectacular, but it's one of the few shonen shows I've seen why I like the majority of the main cast (including the females). If you like shonen/action it's good for that, otherwise avoid it. The animation is good and sometimes amazing, and it's a pretty flashy show as well. I'm a sucker for good animation.

Although some of the things the characters do go waaaaay beyond what should be allowed from a badass normal, I'm highly enjoying Samurai 7 right now.

And it was amazing. However, can anyone explain the ending? I don't get it really. I don't wanna say more because spoilers, but maybe someone can spoiler tag it for me or send me a PM?

Yeah, it was an amazing movie that I recommend every time i make a list! (alongside Paprika, Summers Wars, and 5cm per second).

You might want to check "Summers Wars" if you liked The girl who leapt through time. It's directed by the same guy, and is pretty awesome in its own way. I didn't like it as much, but it was damn close.
