A full set of fourteen new weapon skills are scheduled to go live in the next test server update, and today we've brought you a sneak peek at five of them.
Take a look, then try them out for yourself on the test server later this week!

I haven't played FFXI since 2009 but the new Geatsword Weapon Skill we just saw looked like a five hit attack. As far as I remember, all Greatsword weapon skills were single hit. Multi-hit weapon skill for Greatsword is currently blowing my mind (although I am sure it isn't going to make a huge difference. Still, took them long enough.)

Since we have exactly 14 type of weapons in FFXI, I guess the WS isn't coming from Nyzul (or maybe old Nyzul-esque obtainment where you need to grab job specific weapon and collect WS points while using the weapon). It's probably obtainable via WSNM-like or ToM system.

I saw that myself, which means that some jobs are going to share weapon skills which I don't have a problem with. It's going to be really interesting to see how these new weapon skills compare to older ones and emps. For one, I really hope that these weapon skills are either learned via a WSNM or trial and not something that is tied to a magian weapon which would be stupid. Also they better have the ability to make level 3 skillchains unlike the last batch of weapon skills.

You know, I'm hoping they just show up at x skill level, but if you have to quest them from WSNM, I'm ok with that too as long as it's like the old weapon skills that needed 300 points to break latent and not something absurd like needing metal plates or some lame shit to learn after you trade in to a Magian Moogle.

It doesn't really matter to me how they're unlocked as long as they don't suck. It'd be a shame for SE to come out with new animations that never get used... as they've done in the past.
