[edit] actually was watching some daytime talk show on Japanese TV the other day and they were showing those old emo pics of Keanu and pointing and laughing at them. Not really sure what the overall gist of the show was other than "let's make fun of Keanu Reeves".

Pushed back? Like to December 31st now? Pretty sure the title already lists X-Mas 2013. Looks like the film is "complete" except for a few edits which Universal co-chairwoman Donna Langley is now handling. The reason Carl Rinsch was dropped was because he let the budget swell past $225 million. I guess there were some disagreements over some re-shoots as well.

I see they've taken some liberties with the story lol. Doesn't look terrible. I was kind of hoping it would have fat Keanu in it.

I wasn't keeping tabs on this film but that trailer definitely isn't what I was expecting O_o Looks like a fun movie.

....it's like 300, only in Japan. Guess it's only very loosely based on the original events/legends/plays

style wise I'd say it reminds me more of Sucker Punch

I thought this movie was gonna be grounded in reality like the last samurai... Don't know if I care about this fantasy epic it seems to be...

Yeah I'm a little on the fence about it now. Had it been historically based and not turned into 300 I would be all over it.

47 Ronin is a pretty lame story imo.

A master attacks someone after he felt insulted and is forced to kill himself after guards broke up the fight. The master's Samurai plan revenge for 2 years and then the 47 ronin assault the man their master attacked with overwhelming odds of them having 47 and their enemy having like 20. Then the ronin turned themselves in and all killed themselves.

oh and the "plan for revenge" is basically just the ronin buying time waiting for the dude they want to kill to drop his guard because he was expecting to be attacked by the ronin.

Obviously the movie is going to change 98% of all of that, but still doesn't make the material it's based on any more fascinating.

I'm well aware of what the legend is. Hence why I was interested from the beginning. You're entitled to your opinion. History buffs like me love when a movie like this comes along. I'm saying I would be more interested in the movie had it been done in the vein of the Last Samurai or something along those lines. Instead it's a hybrid of the Matrix and 300.

Plot twist - He ends up fighting agent smith at the end and it turns in to a weird version of the matrix 4

I might like it, but keanus acting sounds too much like neo. I wish he could throw in a different accent, act out a different look, ANYTHING to make him not just immediately throw out a "I am the neo of samurai" look that I'm seeing now.

I only feel like this complaint is justified because he's carrying himself like Kristen Stuart, only one facial expression that I'm quite frankly tired of seeing.
