Well thanks to the people who provided some insight. I went into two stores to try some stuff on and that helped a lot. The "Dream Coat" I was talking about is still nice, but I'm not gonna get that one. I found two that I tried on and really liked and was actually gonna go online to order them today....but the size/color I want are all out of stock....bummer.

They're each Mountain Hardware so I get 50% if I order online (otherwise I woulda just bought the ones at REI)

This one is a a bit thinner, but the reviews suggest that it's very warm....although I'm still skeptical if I wanted to buy an "OMG WINTER -40F COAT." Certainly felt warm when I tried it on.

This one is a coat proper, that was extremely warm and fit really nice. Bulkier than the one above so it feels more like a coat.
