yeah, but it just seems awfully convenient, if it is indeed Bean meeting Val's ship. If they just meet the descolada makers (who might cure bean), and finish the shadow series there, and then Val's crew meets the makers and maybe learn Bean's story, years after he's been and gone, that seems the most convenient.
Yeah like I said, the plan was not for Bean to stay in space for fucking ever. So if the two physically meet then I'm going to be disappointed. Your second option would be acceptable I guess, but still not exactly what I would have wanted for Bean's story. "HEY you saved the earth from world war multiple times but we still couldn't be arsed to cure you so you could be with your wife and kids. SORRY!"
I guess, with the description of the next Ender book (thanks for that btw Qal) that Bean was probably orbiting the Sun, passing millennia until one of the colonies became the new center for medical R&D, was on his way there and bumped into the descolada makers that are about to colonize one of the planets they sent their terraforming probes to. How that happens close to the time that Val shows up at the maker's homeworld (assuming it is their homeworld, and by "close" I mean enough but not too much time for them to meet and greet and decide they are ramen and not varelse (lol) and then get told where that planet is and go there instead of this new R&D medical colony, or otw or afterward) is entirely up to whether or not OSC wants to cheese it up by having Bean meet with Ender 2.0 and co.
Awesome to hear about these two new books.
Shadow of the giant spoilers :
Spoiler: show
descolada makers look like the final five.
Col. Graff, Valentine, Petra cast.
They are officially not fucking around with this movie.
I'm impressed as hell, particularly with the Graff casting. She might be a little old to play Valentine, but I think I just need to come to terms with the fact that all of the kids are going to be a little older than they are in the book.
She's 15 and Val was what, 10 at the beginning of the book? No biggie. The Harry Potter cast was like 10 years older then their ages in the movies. Child actor/actress ages are never the same as what they're attempting to portray ever.
Better to get someone a little older with acting experience than someone the right age who acts like shit. However, go too old and then you just ruin the movie.
Ok with Val actress, I think the Petra actress doesn't look tom-boyish enough tbh. But she might be ok. All depends on how much power OSC has over this.
Don't care about the female actors, the Bonzo actor has the ability to make or break this whole movie. They better come correct.
Why Bonzo of all people?
For me personally, who they grab for Peter is pivotal. Looking innocent and like a murderous bastard at the same time is pretty complicated.
I just hope they cast real live authentic aliens and don't use any CG.
Bring in footage of the Starship Troopers bugs as the buggers. Nobody will notice.
I want to know more
I am sceptical but hyped for this movie like everyone else I really loved the entire Ender's series including the original line of books and the new books following Bean and the other kids as they return to Earth.
I always imagined this being an animated film rather than live action though. We will see how it goes. I wonder if they are planning more movies if they will do the Shadow series or the original line of books.
He's the only other active participant in the most important character development scene, the fight in the bathroom, and indirectly drives most of the the main character and plot development for the entire portion at Battle School. I will admit it's been about fifteen years since I've read the book, but I read it quite a bit in junior high and a few times in high school for leisure. Peter as the most important character for the future seems way off. He's not in the second book, and it's not actually the same person in the 3rd and 4th books.
