Downloaded and installed FFXI via Steam. Updated it using patch from BG. Loaded up game via Steam, POL, etc. Got IN GAME, and then logged out. Opened up Windower Launcher GUI to set graphics, and hit "Launch". I got spammed with blahblah registry key doesn't exist like 5 times and then the POL splash screen and then the game loads, not using any graphics settings.

If I try to load the regular launcher, it opens up normal POL, and not Windower POL (at least I assume so..the title bar doesnt have a mandy or say Windower like it normally does).

So far my current work around is edit registry to adjust gfx tweaks, launch using the launcher gui (still get errors but launches game in windower).

What do I gotta do to fix this so I can just use the Launcher.exe with a saved graphics set? -_-

If you're getting the registry error, check the "x64" box on the launcher. You're probably trying to use 32-bit on a 64-bit system and vice versa.

Unfortunately, that box doesn't remember its state, so you'll have to check it every time.

That makes sense. There's no way to set it in the Launcher.ini file? Also does this mean I have to launch from the GUI everytime, or will the Launcher.exe work if I check that?

You can launch it through the gui once to set the "Advanced" stuff. Since they persist in your registry you'll be fine. Just edit launcher.ini to set your resolution and launch launcher.exe moving forward, until something happens that changes those registries.

Hopefully we'll simplify this process one of these days.

How do you get the game to "snap" your mouse cursor to the currently active UI window? I loathe not having it. I thought that you turn this on or off in the Windower ini file right? But I've tried with it set to 0 and 1. So either its broken right now or I'm not doing something right.

Have you tried turning off(on?) Hardware Mouse in FFXI Config Utility?

I have it set to on. Should it be off?

Edit: Just figured out the problem. I had the SE windower checked in config which caused conflicts. Now it works.

My resources are corrupt from a crash, which naturally causes more crashing whenever I'm using Spellcast now. Link in the forums of the new xi-utils.com site still links to the old host, and //updateresources just serves to tell me it's corrupt and doesn't do dick.

So anyone got a fresh link or BGBox'd xml I can use?

Can someone help me with the way Windower deals with the UI buttons and the resolution? I always dread reinstalling ffxi because it means having to configure all the finicky bullshit that makes this disastrous game playable. One of them being Windower.

If I run windower at my max resolution it works fine. I can alt+tab to my other programs, but until I do it overlays on top of everything including my tasbar (win7). I want to make it so that FFXI is windowed at a decent size but not my whole screen and lets me view my taskbar. The issue is that every time i try a different resolution it screws up the in-game UI and interacting with the mouse. So how can I get a proper resolution that will not screw up the UI/mouse?

Set your background resolution to be your monitor resolution (right click the desktop). Set your window size to be smaller than that (using the Windower GUI).

Ah thanks. I was under the impression background res only effected 3D graphics or something.
