Digital Phone is crap though. I just want cable and Roadrunner turbo with wireless router. I was paying like $180 at one point.

Seriously, $12 for box + card, $10 for turbo, $132 for "all the best", and $20 is fucking fees(taxes etc.)

NYC. And ya that sounds right, but after taxes and installation it came to about that. Direct TV on the other hand gave us a second HD receiver for absolutely nothing.

I feel like I've posted in this topic before but I'll go through it again.

I have TWC, full channels (except for stupid sports packages besides football) and the second highest Internet speed package (I actually can't tell now).

    My current issues:

Peak time HD content is fucking garbage on certain channels.
Food Channel, BBC-A and a few others are just bad.

My internet downstream via SpeedTest varies wildly from the advertised speeds (15mbps d/s ~1mbps u/s)
I get barely 1.2mbps actual download speed at any point. My upstream has never been above 50kbps!

From talking to FiOS customers in the building, they have variable experiences. I'd love to switch but I've got a lovely price with TWC at the moment (Bundle price less a bit) and the FiOS pricing isn't as good.

    Guess I'll chime in too.

In Milwaukee, it seems our only choice for cable (internet, phone* and television) is TWC. I'm sure we could pick up something else for telephone but we bundled it. I bitched about the cost once it started going up every two months, and finally got someone over there to lock in a monthly price of $126 for HBO, Showtime, HD channels, the super-niffty channel package, 1 HD-DVR box and unlimited long distance.

Now, here's some of the problems: I have called at least 15 times in the last year and a half about our internet. Not only is it not as fast as the advertised speeds (occasionally it's as slow as old-school dial up and there's not even a dial tone on the phone) and you can almost set your watch by the 1am modem reset. They have replaced the outside lines, they have "checked the 5-day log on the modem", reset it (as if I didn't do that), sent me useless techs who say 'Ooo it's working now a-huck' (no shit- it's not 1am, genius) and told me about "excessive noise on the line". Told me to drive to a TWC store 45 minutes away to exchange the modem and when I did- they said, "oh we don't exchange those here LOL."
I set up appointments with them to get a new modem and they call the day before our date and tell me that "there was network issues in the area" and they totally fixed 'em and they're not coming.

Plus, they can't seem to get the caller ID to display our name properly and the shingling on the HD channels isn't constant but not uncommon. The cable box seems to like to reset itself for it's own amusement every day or two.

But there's nothing else in the area. I looked into DirectTV and Comcast and from what I could tell (TWC wouldn't load the pages very well......) there is pretty much no other options for this city. I'd be willing to pay a bit more if the shit actually worked as promised. Sorry to babble and complain but Guyverarmor sure seems to know his stuff. Maybe he'll read this and have an idea or two.

Also good for you Cdgreg, here's hoping they stick with that billing plan and don't fuck you around.

Yes, actually. "There's too much noise on the line, there's something wrong with your connection. Call back on a cell phone." When I do, they set up a service call. If they bother to come out, they see nothing amiss. Or they cancel saying they fixed "network issues".
Pretty sure we're just screwed and there's no fixing it. Then again, I'm just a girl so what do I know? Thought I'd ask you guys.

To be honest, it's the better option, even if you have free access to cable.

They try to sign me up for that digital phone shit every time I call (which is usually to report outages at 3am and annoy them until they take $2 off the bill). I don't even have/want a fucking landline, so why would I want a service that's less useful than a landline?!

In the past year I cancelled all my cable services except internet, cancelled ATT contract for $26/mo Virgin Mobile unlimited data, and cancelled gas heating since it cost more than just running a space heater in the winter. Fuck yeah, cheapness.

The on-demand channels on time warner are way better than direct tv. They really need to improve them cause at 5am in the morning theres nothing to watch
