Don't worry, if he doesn't win 90% of his games within two seasons I'm sure he'll have some heart problems and retire.

FSU has yet another amazing class... and will be very highly ranked. Too bad their coaching blows, and they'll probably have yet another mediocre season, just like the last 5 or 6.

Lost out on Landon Collins and Torshiro Davis in state, Collins being expected, Davis not

Kwon Alexander was a big pick-up out of Alabama though. Not an amazing class but still very good. The real meat of our classes are usually the underrated Louisiana prospects that we get a really good read on

That's the biggest thing about recruiting classes, it's nice to have...but it doesn't mean a lot in the long haul. Most of our star players weren't top 150 prospects. Seeing those in-state kids play all the time gives you a better read on how they'll develop in your system and if you can work with them. I'm curious to see how Chris Carter's son does this year with a full off season. I hear he's a monster.

I agree 100%. We recruit in state and surrounding (usually Ohio) and maybe a few here and there but never really any 5 stars. In fact, I think there was only 1 5 star that had an offer on the table. Having spectacular coaching will make the difference no matter what.

Kind of anecdotal, but it feels like the blue chip guys are either beasts or flame out completely

Hopefully they'll pan out on the field. Looks like Florida State had a strong signing day and finished second...Ohio State also finished strong (6th) after not being ranked when Urban took over.

I guess Jim Mora v2 is a bit better at it than Neuheisel. Also I always figured places like USC, UCLA and Miami were the easiest sells to recruits based on location.

Ah, I thought you meant a problem with him.. but yeah, the mom sounds like a vindictive bitch who doesn't know how to be proud of her son.

No problems with him (yet) and I hope he's as good as the hype. Will need a few guys to step up in the secondary with Kirkpatrick, Menzie and Barron all gone. Hoping for a big year from Dee Milliner.

The mom is butting heads with the girlfriend, seems like a pretty normal mom thing to do. They interviewed the mom recently and she said something about how she supports his decision, she was just worried he was making the wrong one.

    doesnt say why but:
West Virginia has decided to cancel its Sept. 8 football game at Florida State.

School officials informed Florida State late Friday they would pay a $350,000 escape fee to shelve the trip.

Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman said Saturday he's disappointed that West Virginia would not honor the first half of a home-and-home agreement that calls for Florida State to visit Morgantown, W.Va., next year.

The Seminoles have Murray State, South Florida and Florida on their 2012 nonconference schedule, in addition to eight Atlantic Coast Conference games.

Spetman now has a short timeline to find an opponent to replace the Mountaineers on Florida State's schedule.

my only guess it might have something to do with WVU not knowing what conference it will be in next year

not sure why it would affect a non-conference game though, unless they want to get pitt for the backyard brawl instead

They are going from a conference with 7 or 8 scheduled conference games to a conference with 9 scheduled conference games. They had too many non-conference games scheduled, and had to get rid of one. Florida State's got to scramble for a game now, which sucks. Maybe they'll call Oregon, who got stuck with three amazingly bad non-conference games when Kansas State dropped out, and Oregon can foist Fresno State off onto someone else.
