I'm really interested to know what the subscription numbers will actually be when the shit goes down. Of course it will maintain a reasonable number of Japanese players because Japan is Japan but will anyone in NA/EU stick around? What does FFXIV offer to a gamer besides a tight-knit community that will no longer exist when F2P ends?
Lol why is it rage quitting when people refuse to pay for a beta? sounds like smart people to me.
I'll be waiting till a patch after P2PBeta to pay and see whats up, especially if they add some cool mounts, and to data mine
Then after that wait for 2.0 , gotta play with the 2.0 miqo'te for sure O_o
The game might not even make it to 2.0 if people aren't trolling and really are not gonna P2P.
im all for them shutting servers down. And instead of trying to stuff shitty content into a beta phase then going "OH GUYS ITS UH... GONNA BE EXTRA 2 WEEKS BEFORE NEXT UPDATE". Just say "hey guys come back in 5 months we will have 2.0 rocking come spring"
instead of them trying to juggle a current system and the new system work load all at the same time. I have plenty of other games to go play. Not like im gonna "forget" about 14.
imo the sooner you get 2.0 out and get the shit steam rolling the better. Get it out at spring when kids get out for school/summer break. "ooh shiny new ff14 2.0 to play" Give everybody that bought the original game free 30 days with a friend pass. Fucking profit when people go "this is what it should have been" and start paying monthly fees after the free pass is up"
The people that really want to play this game will come back. And probably drag people who didn't care with them too.
There is still a base of players that will pay and any money is better for SE than the 0 dollars they are making off the game right now. I find it unlikely that they'd invest so much into 2.0 and than not let it play out until at least that.
For me the charge isn't much money at all, I'm not paying for any other MMO's, and I'm interested enough in the upcoming changes and have a decent enough time with my friends that I'll fork over my money.
I won't make any assumptions about who will or will not be playing come billing time, but I will say this:
SE is already off the mark on their updates. Those flashy pdfs they sent out are already lying to us. If they do not get their shit together and start releasing patches on time, then the 2.0 project isn't gonna hit its mark either. That does not bode well for them whatsoever. If they keep that crap up, I find it hard to believe that they will maintain a large enough group of faithful players to word-of-mouth their relaunch to expected heights of success.
They're planning to have a trailer and what not for E3 no? That's not really just a word of mouth relaunch.
I think they actually said something about seeing how many people stay to pay to decide if enough are interested in the game or something.
I'm actually not sure, don't want to stir things up too muchMight be I'm remembering wrong, and while they want to see how many people will pay, it won't affect anything.
