o well. im taking a break when tera online beta hits state side. Ill play Final Fantasy 14 Waiting Edition till then i guess

This is pretty much my plan too. FFXIV is the only thing that interests me until TERA, assuming I can even play the beta that is.

After they conceived the whole 2.0 concept they may have been better off just putting the game itself on hold, shutting down the servers (retaining char info) and pouring all of their resources into that. Maybe then it would get done on time and actually deliver rather than 3 months late with a third of the content delayed till 2.1 or whatever.

This beta-beta game that we have now is just a rotting limb, they're still using it heavily for feedback but it's not supplied with enough content to be worth paying for. It just seems so counterproductive to split up their apparently limited resources trying to develop content for this temporary shell as well as enough high quality, finalized content for 2.0 to make for a successful relaunch.

Shut it down, when 2.0 hits with the big re-release give everyone that bought the game originally X free months or X months at a discount, new buyers the normal 1 month free and hope for the best.

While they're at it shape the payment system the fuck up, regular monthly fee includes 1 char with 2 retainers. Quit trying to bullshit us with "basic service fees" and 3$ character slots.

I love how everyone cries about this but I'm willing to bet, come the end of January, most of them are still playing (and paying).

OK I could be wrong and SE could get a nasty surprise, but I reckon that while 80%+ say they won't pay and plan to rage quit, only a fraction of that actually will. In fact, I'd love to see some hard stats/polls etc to see how opinion before equates to server populations after.

And when the server has so few players, those few players start to complain about lack of people to do raids/xp. Next you know, SE decides to recant their insistence of subscription and we'll probably all be playing Guild Wars 2 by then.

Asked us to pay $85 for the collector's edition, which was actually a boxed Beta lol.

And the game was a completely mess and still is to this day.

And the most dramatic change thus far will come in the form of 1.21 patch, which we can't even enjoy unless we pay.

To me, that is simply insulting, they don't even respect the fact that we've put up with a year's worth of problematic mechanics and just a purely broken product, to even let us enjoy something new and different. Rather they spit in our face and ask us for money so we can enjoy the fruits of their labor. Fucking bullshit, all the people who bought fucking the game on release day deserve to enjoy a stable, semi finished product, not this half toilet refuse we've been forced fed.

I think the more likely scenario is that if there is a mass exodus when the game goes P2P, SE decides to cut bait on XIV 1.x, and possibly pull the plug on 2.0 as well. If they do go forward with 2.0 in that circumstance, it will be marketed as XIV-2 (or maybe even XV/XVI) and it will share nothing at all with XIV (so, no character importing).

Thats what I was getting at, by the time they start to charge people will end up falling into two categories.

1. The been there done that crowd: You have either farmed all your weapons off the Dark Moogle fight or frustrated at being 0/20-80+

2. You're farming achievements which look incredibly boring. Achievements brought out the worst in people in WoW when they were new and full of hoopla.

So you get two main activities to hold you over assuming no setbacks with 1.21 with a mid-late February release.

They should have just shut the game down and put all their eggs in the basket for 2.0. Someone once told me don't work harder, work smarter and SE is working harder and not smarter.

I'm going to continue to play FFXIV because I'm enjoying it quite a bit right now, but in all seriousness to all of you that just constantly bitch about how terrible the game is and that they should just shut down the servers until 2.0 maybe you should just stop playing until 2.0? You guys seem to be playing a game that you hate so you spend your days on this forum bitching and complaining about every single bit of news even if its a good thing.

I won't make any assumptions about who will or will not be playing come billing time, but I will say this:

SE is already off the mark on their updates. Those flashy pdfs they sent out are already lying to us. If they do not get their shit together and start releasing patches on time, then the 2.0 project isn't gonna hit its mark either. That does not bode well for them whatsoever. If they keep that crap up, I find it hard to believe that they will maintain a large enough group of faithful players to word-of-mouth their relaunch to expected heights of success.

While I share your concerns, I'm hoping that one of the reasons for the delay in our current patches is because the majority of the focus/work is on 2.0 right now which alright by me, if that's the case.

That being said, I fully expect a delayed 2.0 release.

It's not that we all hate the game. In fact I enjoy it and still log on almost everyday to do crafting leves and grind my DoLs. Thinking about the game's potential gives me a raging boner, but right now there ain't a lot going on. Anyone who has lived through the apex of FFXI and plays XIV now understand that SE isn't exactly to be trusted. We highly anticipate patches, but are also realistic about our expectations. We're gonna get content we'll blow through in two weeks or less. Whatcha gonna do at that point? Keep waiting (and complain) or stop playing.
