Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Took five minutes on the Cat boss and taught myself how to parry. Its exactly what everyone here's felt, game is fun as hell when you can get a decent grasp of the parrying mechanic. I also did notice that the window seemed large. A few times I messed up and went too early, or so I thought, and it still connected.

To be honest I've wanted a new action game, haven't played one in a while since Darksiders II, and I was really on the fence about DMC. So I figured by Feb/March I would purchase either this one or DMC. Figured I'd download the Demo at least to see if I liked this.

Metal Gear Rising just won. I'm really excited to pick this one up.

I'm guessing the higher difficulty you're on, the less input time for parrying you'll have. Maybe.

Was a toss up between what system to pre-order this for. 360 is a bit brighter on the colors, but has some very annoying screen tearing. PS3 doesn't, so PS3 version won out.

I'm glad P* learned how to properly develop games for PS3.

Demo was kicking my ass. Got to the point where you had the 2+ walkers and they just fucked my shit up. I suck at action games now

This so hard. I had a friend over trying to beat the dog, and she got destroyed. I beat it first try after she gave up due to knowing how to parry, AND it felt pretty fucking cool doing the combo parries. Glad this is coming out so close to loldmc as I had an itch for an action game.

This pretty much. However, I still can't get my timing right when trying to parry those fucking super rocket kicks from the Gekkos.

Feel like all this extra crap isn't needed once you get even slightly proficient with parrying. Game is just so bad ass between that and blade mode.

Can anyone give an abridged version on how to parry? Sometimes I'd get lucky but I think I'm missing something obvious.

It's all timing, similar to Ninja Gaiden and Demon's/Dark Souls, but with two buttons. Locking onto targets makes parrying easier. Move the left thumbstick in the direction of the incoming attack and hit X/Square at the same time and Raiden will raise his sword. Glowing lights or body parts usually signal an oncoming attack, after that, it's just understanding the charge time for enemy attacks, similar to NG and Souls. Precision parrying sometimes stuns enemies and allows a quick kill through Y+B/Triangle+Circle.

Demo is so huge, but once you learn how to parry you can finish it in less then like 5min. I need this game, now.

This has them all outlined for those of you wondering how to do them all.

I've gotten a better at parrying, but still can't do it 100% (especially on the gekkos since they attack a bit slower) but I pretty much got the timing down and as everyone has said before, it makes the game that much more fun.

So thinking about pre-ordering from Gamestop for the Gray Fox skin, but don't see any other places offering bonuses except for amazon. Anyone know of any others that offer something better or should I just go with GS?
