I usually only use Ripper mode for certain attacks (Pincer Blades aerial attack and Quick Draw are my favs) and switch it off as soon as I'm done. Kinda like Devil Trigger, but yeah, Ripper mode would kill your combo count and would make Zandatsu's hard because iirc the enemies blow up pretty quickly. Well, unless you took them out one at a time but that seems risky if you're going for high rank.

Dunno though, need to play more. MORE.

I got bored earlier and watched some of the cutscenes (especially the Armstrong ones) in Japanese. Just not as awesome as "limp-dick lawyers and chicken-shit bureaucrats".

Ugh, Armstrong's such a bitch. I love him as a boss, but I keep fucking up on phase 3 with the cutting. I have it checkpointed at the final fight with no damage taken on the first two phases and no repair pastes, so if I get hit, it's an automatic death and restart. (Not sure if deaths reset the counter for the achievement.) Anyway, I can get him down to 80% in the first minute np, but I take way too long with the cutting to make it reliable...resulting in me not having any FC to target him properly when he's healing if I do succeed, thus death when he headbutts. Did you guys forego the QTE and just slug it out when you went for the achievement/trophy?

If you die, it counts as taking a hit a believe. I did the Metal Gear Ray fight without getting hit except for at the very end when I was running down the clock tower and a missile ohko'd me. restarted me at the beginning of the clocktower, but when I killed it off, I didn't get "no damage" on my scoring.

Playing on Revengeance with the fully upgraded Fox Blade for the first time and Platinuming this game has suddenly become very possible. Only two missions in so far, but without even trying, half my scores have been S and the other half are As which I assume would have been S is I didn't take damage.

How do you avoid the damage in the final part of the MG Ray fight? Is the plasma beam that it sweeps the field with parryable? I tried jumping over it and that didn't work.

I was able to jump over it some times and not other times ;x I think you might need to be further back on the screen where the beam is lower.

Yeah, you just have to step back a tiny bit and then you can jump over it very easily.

Also if you do a midair combo you stay suspended in the air for longer, meaning you don't have to be as strict with your timing.

I love this game. Do not regret day 1, though I didn't think I would.

yeah, i'm pretty sure this will be GOTY for me. can't think of much else i'm excited about for the rest of the year, barring any surprise announcements at E3 that will make it out during the holiday season.

can't wait to see what platinum can do with a sequel when they actually have the luxury of a couple years to work on it. if it lands on next-gen, shit's gonna be out of control.

Holy fuck with this last boss LOL. This is the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen in a game. The first part was the hardest for me. Everything else after was just a matter of trial and error.

Dude, it just kept on going and going. At a couple of points I was literally laugh out loud because of how over the top it was. Most of my repair pastes went to those stupid blades dropping on my head. Got the timing down somewhat, but I was just annoyed at that point, so I got hit with more than I cared for.

I thought it was nice, felt like a real MGS final boss. The only other boss to make me feel that way was Monsoon.

finally this game clicked for me. was pretty ambivalent to it until u figure out how to properly play. Kinda ridiculous that P* is the developer for the top two franchises in the genre (Bayonetta + Rising). Also betting Kamiya is feeling pretty good about Revengeances sales compared to DmC . the soundtrack is bloody incredible as well.

What gets me psyched is Platinum pretty much made this game in just under a year. Definitely shows just how far ahead they are of the competition in the genre. Just imagine what they could cook up given at least 2 years of dev time

    edit: nvm.

I just dont' seem to be good at getting the parry block stance up consistently.
