Hopefully, but if they are adding more quests (like they said), it's still going to be a problem for anyone doing them. The forth and back between quest givers and outpost is where most of your animas go.

Like I said before, I ran out of anima pretty damn fast simply doing quests (which is the only thing I find remotely interesting in FFXIV). While I could have been more conservative on the teleport, I still ended up spending a fuckton of time on the road, and wasting more time walking/riding is definitively not something I was willing to do.

Would it be so gamebreaking to give us unlimited anima? All it does is prevent me from doing quests (and guildleve now that I'm out completely). In the end, it will force me out of the game for a few weeks, which usually end with me not coming back for another 3-4 months. SquareEnix has nothing to gain from this system for the same reason they had nothing to gain from a fatigue system.

    [edit]
Anima either hold you back or they don't, and when they do, it just mean you're spending more time on the road. Unless someone can explain me how SE benefit from this, I'm going to keep saying that anima are retarded.

Or maybe I'm used to play videogames where traveling is much faster than FFXIV. Obviously, people who are still playing since launch are probably able to endure it just fine, but when 2.0 will hit, it's going to turn off many who were hoping to see a game with better pace.

I dare you to clock how much time you spend passively running around in this game (chocobo or not), especially while questing. Unless you're stuck in a grinding routine of repeating the same guildleve/fight, it's going to be a lot.

How? I don't see any way to equip disciple of the hands skills, and they don't even seem to have the skill anymore.

And since you like to bullshit apparently, how do you complete all 3 faction quests and obtain your chocobo in 30 minutes? I don't know how it is possible to do that in 30 minutes, unless I'm missing some sort of loophole to get points.

My point is it's impossible to balance classes to put out the exact same damage. It would take years of constant trial and error. If a class is even 1% better than another the playerbase will lean towards that class. That's not SE's fault unless you wanted the patch delayed until 2050. It's the player who won't invite you because your class does 1% less damage, not the game. A skilled group can make up for that 1% by having the other 6 DDs doing 0.15% more damage or whatever. The fight might take 5 seconds longer but you get to play right?

A 1% difference would be nearly impossible to parse, and could easily be compensated with classes utilities, buff, debuff and various situational crap.

Even if one class was proven to do 1% more in every situations, I seriously doubt the playerbase would care. It doesn't happen in WoW, and the gap between spec is higher than this (all 22 dps spec are generally within 10%). The larger the gap is, the more likely it is that one classes will be favored, but nobody want to take 15 hours to form a party, and skilled players > the 1% theoretical difference.

Lastly, it's not that hard to balance DPS to a reasonable level. It can be hard when there is a lot synergy between abilities, but it's rarely the case.

Blame the players when the difference is closer to 1%. You keep on throwing that number around but you're fooling yourself if you think the current difference is close to that number at all. You keep on guessing people would still care if the difference was only 1%, but a few games have already proven that to be wrong (even with higher numbers).

Either way, some of the issues in this game haven't even been damage related. There have been too many quality-of-life issues with every class but the flavor-of-the-month class. Some examples: you could just avoid sears as LNC against Ifrit, and you could avoid a lot of things as ARC in Darkhold. Look at the moogle fight: every class but ARC has to keep on repositioning to do combos.

Can things be done with lesser classes? Of course. Is it worth it to do things a little slower? I don't know, but it certainly isn't worth it while getting a headache.

I'm calling bull-fucking-shit on doing the company quests required to get a chocobo in 30min. I have an alt that I didn't even start doing GC shit on til she was 4X in levels and that shit took hours to get all those damn quests done since you have to do ALL of the quests for all the GCs up to the speeches and then do a few more for the one you wish to join and that does NOT leave you with enough seals to get a chocobo. You have to go run a dungeon or do Ifrit as stated before AFTER doing all these quests.

30min my ass. It literally takes several hours even using tons of anima (which I did do)... it would take much longer if I actually gave a shit about conserving my anima (not that I need to since I have access to 3 accounts one of which just has several characters with no use but teleporting me around because FUCK anima conservation)

I completely agree with the quest thing. I find the placement of quest NPCs very unintuitive and lots of times you have to go out of your way find them instead of bumping into them at a certain level where you can use their rewards to level. Oh and travel requirement for some of them is ridiculous.

Yeah, before I quit, traveling in this game was one of my main headaches. Choco's are nice, but it's still shit when you want to go to toto rak, and you take an airship to grid and then run for like 5-10 minutes up to the dungeon. I mean you could use your anima if your in ul'dah but that's what? 6anima? that's 2 days worth of regening just to compensate for one trip???

That was my beef with the whole system 3 anima a day.... so If a new quest(s) come out, and you blow through your anima, down to zero, it will litterly take you almost 30 fucking days (i don't think thats right... maybe it's 6 anima a day, but the point still stands) just to have a surplus again. That's shitty...
When I played rifts, being able to move around the map was one of the best things I'd encountered in an MMO to date.

You get 6 anima per day (1 every 4 hours), afaik.

My favorite part is when the map trick you into going to a super high level area or a dead end.

Even better when you dies and forgot to set your hp anywhere close because mobs placement was retarded.

Didn't know about swiftsong, but it's level 26...fuck that.

I still think the game is terrible and a complete utter waste of time with 2.0 looming. The way quests flow in this game is worse than FFXI and thats really hard to top. I think its an improved game but there are just really dumb things still plaguing the game.

They still can't balance anything worth a shit. Perfect balance is impossible but this game has 0 shred of balance, it is almost a direct carry-over from XI.
They're still terrible with quest flow. I knew a lot of people who came back for chocobo mounts and not one of them liked any of the company quests and said it took too long to do them.

I bet the next thing is people will say "Jobs are going to bring balance in 1.21!" Lol.

I wish they would restore some anima in bulk. Maybe throw in a two week timer with a 25 anima point restore or something. That would be helpful.

I'm sure poor Mioko and other 0~1/100ers would drop some money for one Ifrit weapon at this point.

Cash shop aside, I wonder why they are dead set on putting (Color) at the end of every piece of gear. Seems like they're trying to keep crafters in the loop still, but honestly, come on. Just make the base item and let anyone apply dyes to anything. Of course you have to let us dye everything every color too so if someone buys X item and it's purple, they can change the color easily.

Imo this is something they need to consider. Crafters shouldn't be required to dye stuff if you want an expansive color matching system. As it is they did not add all colors to everything. It's still very limited. Just last night I was thinking how neat it would be to have blue or purple cobalt dps gear, but alas, red is still the only color. What gives?

Of course, that doesn't matter if the fights are designed better. I was honestly hoping moogle would have more movement based combat, but I guess they avoided such things because of server issues.
    SE and movement-based combat. ._.
