It's the player who won't invite you because your class does 1% less damage, not the game. A skilled group can make up for that 1% by having the other 6 DDs doing 0.15% more damage or whatever. The fight might take 5 seconds longer but you get to play right?
Really? Play WoW. This literally does not happen, because you will lose out on class-specific buffs and might possibly lose raid fights because of the loss of overall DPS/HPS. You blame the players, but you don't have the right to do so with a company that has never, ever shown that they have the capacity - or interest - to balance classes.

The point still remains: why create a class if you aren't going to create a direction for it, and a place for it? You can't claim that you're doing it for the fans, but you're either full of shit or completely misguided (and SE has been around in the MMO biz for too long for that excuse to work anymore) because the fans will ultimately wind up cursing you for trolling them, even if it wasn't your intention to do so. SE still doesn't get it, but I'm not surprised given that they're still working in Tanaka Land. Yoshi-P Land won't open until the supposed launch of 2.0; then we'll see if SE has learned from the world or not.

Of course you have to let us dye everything every color too so if someone buys X item and it's purple, they can change the color easily.

Imo this is something they need to consider. Crafters shouldn't be required to dye stuff if you want an expansive color matching system. As it is they did not add all colors to everything. It's still very limited. Just last night I was thinking how neat it would be to have blue or purple cobalt dps gear, but alas, red is still the only color. What gives?
    Can't redye til 2.0

Yes I know. My point is the color should just be seen visibly. We don't need 5 entries per piece of gear when the only difference in its name is (Purple) or (Blue). Nobody needs to know that anyway!

I think the issue is that the current engine isn't able to do that, and changing it right now would be either impossible or much more work than it's worth. They don't currently have ways to dynamically modify the color for rendering like what other games do. Right now the only way for them to make a new color is to make an entirely different item, a carbon copy of the item with a different model that shows the new color.

It's not that they're set on this being the way it is, it's that they can't fix it with the current game engine. Hence why they already said they will fix it in 2.0.

It's probably a database/engine issue that prevent them from doing something better. Adding a new field for the color is obviously doable, but it's not necessarily the best option if you want to preserve the speed and stability of your database. I'm assuming they are saving these change for 2.0

I do hope they have something better on the way for 2.0. It's not the biggest issue, but it's stupid when you search for an item.

They did say in 2.0 people will be able to dye on their own with an NPC, and crafters will be used for more exotic colors. At least that addresses what I think you're talking about.

Finally got my own chocobo and god damn do they need to do something to boost the guildleve option for Company seals. I blew 1k seals on ranking up right after joining, something that I regretted doing, and it was an overly tedious grind doing the Company leves to make up 1.6kish seals. I need to find people to play with again on Trabia so I can get a quick 2k seals from Ifrit and Toto-rak and I shudder thinking about what I'll need seal-wise later on for the new gear I was interested in.

That aside I'm loving the changes for GLA so far. I'm blocking a hell of a lot more now and finally being able to block monster tp moves is wonderful. AoE really feels a bit too gutted though so I hope they change that for not just GLA but a lot of the classes.

Just what -can- this current engine do, besides frustrate us and not make SE money?

I'm honestly not expecting any kind of balance between classes until 2.0 is out. The game is completely changing every patch and this one was huge for classes in general.
That said, have all classes been experimented with on Moogle or is everyone jumping on ARC for no real reason?

Archer is jumped on because the battlefield is a pretty big mess with hate fluctuating pretty rapidly. Archer has Decoy do essentially Utsusemi an attack, Shadowbind to deal with getting hate from the moogle that's chasing them around, and not only can they attack regardless of where the mob is, they can combo without worrying about direction. All of their combos rely only on distance. There's also plenty of AoE crap going on. Again, it's going to be a bit before strategies are solid enough and players experienced enough to opt out safer class choices for higher damage-output.

Literally everything else you said is bullshit, that's the only thing that matters. And nobody is going to experiment with anything else, because endgame players are going to stick with what works best and bad players are going to exploit the encounter.

So why is this considered an exploit, exactly? Is it because it's not the intended way to do the fight? Because it trivializes the fight?

You'd fit right in over at the official forums, maybe take that question over there.

I was trying to follow the train of thought that makes you consider this an exploit, or at the very least, an important one, given the state of the game in general. The only argument I'm seeing from your peers is that it cheapens the fight and that it's not the intended way to beat it. Following that logic, please tell me how:

-Despawning enemies in Darkhold is fine.
-Afking to level 50 is fine.
-Failing guildleves for extra exp was fine.
    -Abusing enemy leashes is fine.

And many other things that you have done over the last year without giving a fuck about whether they were intended to be done that way or not. All those things cheapened their respective events too, but you didn't seem to care.

This game is plagued with awkward and weird mechanics that have given birth to horrible things. I don't see how this is different or why you care about it now.

This particular issue is simply is a result of sight-aggroing enemies completely ignoring you unless you're directly in front of them, and raising completely removing you from hate lists. You're putting two and two together. You're getting a really ugly four as a result, but it's still a four.

And don't get me wrong, I do think this strategy should be removed and I'm not partaking in it, but you people are coming off as nothing more than butthurt hypocrites for crying over other people "exploiting" this. You sound like those who cried about others PLing last patch, you just care about different things in this game.

    EDIT: Typos and stuff.
