It cycles AFAIK. Whenever I finished one I tended to get the other type. That was in 1.19 though, if they changed the frequency/rate of change (doubtful). You only get the one the NPC gives to you at a time. I assume you could wait for leve reset to change the leve but not really productive.

In Nanawa I only ever received the Defend leve once, but in Halitali I get it more often. I have no idea what determines it.

I'm told when you reach Sergeant Third Class another company leve will cycle in; one where you find a specific mob for a crystal or something, then use that to expose other hidden mobs.

It's not any better. I still get 90+10 seals.

Can you solo the last 10 levels doing guildleve only now? Around 5-10 minutes per guildleve for 5k-10k xp is one of the most reasonable xp rate I've seen in the game in over a year. Much better than it was a few months ago (not to mention that most were a pain to solo).

Yeah definitely. It's a tad boring but totally possible. Currently leveling my LNC like that while farming seals.

This one can be done in 5 mins (or as fast as u can kill) so its already 3x better than the other ones where u have to wait 15 full mins.

I'm mostly wondering how long it will take per level. Right now, it's 1 hour and half per level (probably closer to 2 hours and half if I include traveling and all). Hopefully, it won't increase much more than that.

I'm also wondering if soloing normal mobs would be viable somewhere. I get like 400-500xp/kills near halitali, and can chain them to #4 every times. I just can't find a camp with enough monsters.

Defend traveling in one thread, bitch about it in another.

Lol, are you really trying to equate toggling WALK while fighting a prerequisite NM to traveling throughout the world? Or did you just not even know what the fuck I was referring to because you spend more time spewing bullshit than actually playing the game.

I'll fill you in. In order to not aggro the treants (edit:that hit for 9999 damage) around the NMs, you have to walk. They aggro if you run. That's why walking is tedious.

Now that you're back, you can fill us in on how to get chocobo in 30 minutes.

Toggling back to run is a good start.

While I think 30min is a stretch, it does not take more than an hour/hour and a half. It's really not that time consuming to get a chocobo; FFXI's took a minimum of six hours if you fed it every hour on the dot.

Try 3 to 4 hours minimum to even get into a Grand Company from start to finish, and that's if you teleport almost everywhere. After spending that much time doing nothing but the required quests you're still short 650 seals for a chocobo so you still have to come up with those and that can take awhile unless you have friends willing to go right into a dungeon with you. Really, getting a chocobo in this game isn't much better than what it was in FFXI. It might not be quite as boring but it still takes a good amount of time.

"30 minutes" (ehh) is probably assuming you were as high as you could go in all GCs at the time of the patch. Then it was just 2 more quests per GC. If you were only up to date in 1 of the 3 (or none), well yeah it's gonna take longer.

I was SO PISSED when I found out that some of those quests couldn't be accepted simultaneously. Took me hours because of that shit.

You have to complete two quests in every nations that involve going out of your way in the world, then you go back and listen to all 3 "speeches" which make you run across the world once again , then you can pick a nation...but you're still not done. After that, you're left completing 3 more quests to get your remaining 800 points.

You're looking at 12 quests, which easily takes 4 hours to complete, especially if you don't know which part of the the Black shroud is going to be blocked by lv 70 monsters, or if you only follow the vague instruction (when they ask you to infiltrate their ranks, it means to complete every quests and not just join their rank). Someone who has done it before can probably do it in 4 hours, someone on his first time is most likely going to waste around 6-7 hours.

And just for fun, how much of this time was spent fighting or watching cut scenes? There is a total of 9 encounters, all of which takes about 1 minute. Cut scenes are a bit longer, but still.

    [edit]
The real problem here doesn't lies in the quests or anything (beside most being incredibly redundant), it's that slow traveling for 25 levels followed by a relatively boring 4-6 hours of running around is going to turn off a lot of players before they even get the chance to experiment a game with basic functionality. I'm not sure I would have had the patience for this shit if it wasn't a FF game.
