Parts of Pittsburgh are actually pretty nice.

Other parts do look very similar to what was in the game (usually minus all the plant overgrowth).

wyoming, CO, and UT are all believable but it is pretty funny that they go from Pittsburgh to Wyoming with no issue

That's what I mean. Those three, ok that's not that big of a stretch. I'm bored at the moment so I did some mileage checks. Excluding the initial trip from Austin to Boston, they traveled over 3,100 miles. After leaving Pittsburgh they went roughly 2,500 miles on foot, horse, or by some other means of conveyance.

    Like I said, I'm bored.

8.5 miles a day considering the story took about a year, that's pretty doable. They probably knocked out that initial 600m in the car pretty quick, dropping it down to 7m or so a day. Probably able to knock out a good chunk quickly on horse as well, giving them the extra time needed while Joel was half dead.

I even looked up how far horses tend to travel in a day! 30-100 miles depending on breed/health, making 25-83 days for 2500 miles, though I realize they didn't go the entire way on horse and it was probably on the lower side since carrying 2 people.

yea, that part could have been done at any time, who knows where he went during it.

Pittsburgh has improved massively in the last decade. It's one of the most "livable" cities right now.

Yup. There are still some real shitty spots. But on the whole Pittsburgh is a damn nice city. Now if only we could get rid of the idiot Steeler fans. God that would be amazing.

That's the weird thing about this place. Even with the economy improving and more jobs coming here, property values don't get astronomically high. My house is 1700 square feet 3 levels with a large backyard 3br 2bath and a 25x21 foot game room in a nice suburb north of the city. It cost us 139k

That's the good thing about Pittsburgh's housing market. You really do get a lot for your money. Only downside is that almost all the houses in Pittsburgh have a radon problem because of the coal mines. So most of them have radon filtration systems.

That's super cheap, you can't even find a 387 square feet apartment in Stockholm for that price... Hell, I don't think you can find an apartment for that price anywhere in Stockholm - even in the shittiest suburb - no matter how small it is.
