So, as some have mentioned earlier, the game's replay value is strange. I played it through 3 times in a row, but the encounters became much easier I'd say (well, minus the extra difficulty of playing it on Survivor) in later playthroughs. That said, I can't help but wonder how much of that came from the fact that I've only played Last of Us and SC2 since it came out. At this point, you're probably not going to lose anything from waiting to borrow it.

There is no point to NG+ unless your a trophy whore since the only point of it is to cap out weapons and supplements. They really only added NG+ to boost longevity of the game w/o adding additional content

I thought it was a reference to Ishmael of Moby Dick. But makes sense given the book's plot. I haven't read Earth Abides, but it's now on my list.

I'm at the university on survivor, it's not as stingy as I thought it would be. I still have a lot of ammo and supplies plus crafting materials to make a few more, I've only used shivs on shiv doors but I am so low on them, I can't wait to get that damn shirt.

Finally beat this yesterday. Fantastic game. Might replay again to max out upgrades though I imagine the game will be easier in the future no matter what.

^ everything here. Game fully lived up to the hype, it was Uncharted and Half-Life 2 mashed together, story was great, visuals were beautiful, enjoyed every moment of it. Just getting started on the Hard mode playthrough, it's definitely harder in terms of resource scarcity, but now that I'm much better at the stealth end from the first playthrough it's still not too hard to get through. Had a hard time on the Bloater in the school just because of low ammo, took me a few tries to kill it since I had to connect with pretty much every shot I fired.

What's the multiplayer like?

Just finished survivor, it's not as bad as people are making it out and not that different from hard, can't wait for a new game+ on easy so I can feel like Rambo.

Working on my Survivor play through now. Just made it past the Bridge and haven't used a single health pack or fired a gun(Cept when the game makes you). Some annoying things that made me restart checkpoint many many many times but so far I'm not doing too bad.

I wish the game told you how many times you restarted an encounter, I didn't progress until I did a perfect or near perfect run.
My only beef is I have two separate saves file from when I did hard and hard+ and the other for survivor. My tag progression is different on both but you keep all the reward money you earn for both, so I'm having to load each one to see what I need on each one.

The best restart encounter I've had is early on in the first spot where you have to use a ladder, grabbed it before Tess told me to look for it, game glitched and wouldn't recognize that I had grabbed the ladder, no matter how many times I took it down or put it up Tess refused to climb it and kept yelling at me to find the ladder.

Gotta say, from Spring to the end of the game in Survivor wasn't that bad. I basically did the same thing as I did in my Normal play through and beat it with ease. If anything, Winter and some other parts were much much harder.

Now to do the easy play through for collectables.

Winter is fucking cray when playing as ellie only, Joels part was pretty straight forward and easy. Imo of course.

So, did a lot of people just play Survivor or did most do the Survivor+ glitch? I personally did the glitch because I didn't want to play through on Survivor twice. I was thinking about it though, and if they had made survivor available at the start, think the game would be near impossible to beat. You just learn so much from the initial playthrough that makes survivor easier.

Whats this glitch? I may try to plat it if there is a case to make me not need to do Survivor+

The glitch lets you immediately jump to survivor + from whatever difficulty you beat it in. So only 2 playthroughs are required. There's also one where you do your NG+ on easy and try to max everything and have max ammo at the end of chapters, then you use the first glitch to do all the chapters in reverse on survivor+ using the chapter select from your easy+ playthrough, thereby letting you have the ammo you had on easy. Apparently you can do the chapters in reverse order starting with the second from last chapter, then do the last chapter and the trophy pops.
