Remember that time that we followed libertarian policies for a few decades under the advisement of an awesome guy named Alan Greenspan and everything turned out great?

    Me too.

Lets elect someone who is even more radically devoted to deregulation (when convenient).

The biggest reason why I wouldn't vote for Ron Paul is because I don't think I'd like his nominations for Supreme Court Justices. There are 4 who are 70+ years old.

meanwhile they ignore that he's running as a pro-life (not a libertarian) candidate in Iowa
    2 points:
    1) He's not running on a pro-life position. He's simply saying it should be a state issue rather then a federal, which is consistent with everything else he has said.

    2) It's arguable whether or not it's a libertarian position. The ideology promotes absolute individual liberty as long as it does not harm another human being. Abortion could fall into this category, except he is being looser with the definition of what a 'human being' is over what Roe vs Wade describes.

nope, he says life precedes liberty, but thanks for being the paultard who tries to explain something "i just don't understand about ron's position"

so we agree that he's not ideologically consistent about libertarianism? great.

Actually libertarians are totally hands-off on abortion
    1.4 Abortion
Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

Ron Paul is a republican though, not a libertarian.

You're welcome, now let me continue to be that paultard.

He's personally against abortion, but again, he is saying it should be a states issue, not a federal one. Which is consistent with everything else he has said.

You can see him saying so here in the first 30 seconds.

You're going to have to re-read what I said and/or rephrase your response, it makes no sense in relation to what I said. I said it's arguable whether or not abortion rights are consistent with libertarianism as an ideology, not that he's inconsistent with libertarianism.

listening to him weasel his way out of every "seriously dude, what the fuck is wrong with you" question is starting to get painful, especially when he gets that shocked look on his face and starts doing the creepy leaning back and looking down his nose thing

    like this:

first few minutes are him deflecting the bitching about earmarks while being one of the worst offenders by comparing it to tax deductions then rambling about presidential power

and people are somehow impressed by this incoherent bullshit

"I never voted for an earmark but I do everything in my power to get more money sent to my constituency!"

I did a quick look but a lot of shit gets purged, especially shit like that. I haven't looked at schema-root yet, it might be on there.

I'm not a fan of earmarks, and some of them are outright lame, however, at least in these situations it's US money going into US things (like pageants and sports, etc.) and we'd have no problem funding them if not for bailouts, excessive military spending and rich people/corporations taking loopholes through paying taxes. And if you're going to discredit Paul, who is against those major things, I hope at least the candidate you do support is actively against those things AND earmarks.

538 is giving RP 44% to win Iowa right now.

Ship da ship, RP winning the repub nom > presidency would be the best thing to happen to amerka for a long time, shame it's never going to happen.

The Republican party as Ron Paul states it, is a vessel. You can be libertarian and republican, you can also be libertarian and democrat, i.e Dennis Kucinic.

the issue of earmarks itself is completely different from the fact that he's constantly harping against them while doing his damndest to get them for himself

I would be totally in support of Ron Paul if he wasn't such an idiot. I like that he's a man of principle, but it takes more than principle and sticking to your guns to run a country. You also have to be in touch with the people, something I'm not so sure he is.

The guy stood in congress in 2003 and predicted the housing collapse. After the collapse Alan greenspan, barnanke and most other keynesian economists said noone could ever see this coming. Hell Herman Cain just months before the collapse as state Fed chairmen reported "everything looks good".

Ron Paul is alot smarter then what you give him credit for.

edit: What the fuck, I was posting in the other thread...

Also, commercial is all sorts of sweet. Then again, Obama was a good talker. Look how that ended up.

Paul might be a good talker too. Most politicians are. That doesn't mean shit to me.

Dude Obama was the bastion of hope for everyone and he promptly decided to shit down everyone's throats. How bad could Ron Paul REALLY be? Maybe your country should go with something different this time.
