No, the media is very hostile to Ron Paul, as they should be. They should be hostile to Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, Dennis Kucinich, and every public servant in between and for those who seek public office. I want politicians to answer difficult questions and be held accountable and watch them squirm when they're confronted with things that make them look bad.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying, I guess the point is that the only time they talk to him is in a hostile manner or very, very limited coverage. That's not the treatment other candidates get, even the off the wall batshit crazy ones for sure no questions asked like Herman Cain. Good journalism is great, but not when it's specifically targeted at someone to make them look poorly compared to someone else while ignoring that someone elses shittiness.

Well, I'm not anymore. And I didn't join because I thought war was just, I had other reasons/goals and I met them/succeeding in performing them. You'd be surprised, or maybe not, how many people even in an organization like the one I was in understand the pointlessness of what we were doing in Iraq/Afghanistan. You would be surprised how many "innocent" civilians we don't kill and are reported as such, and while I understand the futility of killing people who shoot at you because you are in their country, the flip side is that we don't have a choice and I would rather not die or let my buddies die. Many conversations have been had regarding what our true mission should have been, the factors at play in the middle east/US foreign policy and the like. Going after Osama bin Laden has always been a score one for the people mission - AQ isn't about one man and never will be and is largely ineffective today. Invading Saudi Arabia and fucking shit up would have been the proper mission, a just war so to speak.

Iraq was an interesting war, and to be perfectly honest while we (I wasn't in yet) fucked up the invasion and had no plan resulting in thousands of US personnel losing their lives, many thousands more limbs, minds, etc, the recovery and work that was done from 2006-present by some of our SOF was really amazing and someday I hope that truth can be revealed. There was a relatively small group of men who changed the course of that war, and while Iraqi's died in the process I truly believe lives were saved on both sides.

Afghanistan is a different story, and explaining the incredibly large number of factors in the mix would take a lot of time and I'd probably miss half of them in the process. To sum it up, poor people, drug money, US doesn't want drugs, Pakistan, Pashtun-wali, culture that doesn't know anything but war, low IQ/availability of factual information to the populace, culture stuck in 1400s

It would take 20 years or more to make any difference in that country, 20 years of money, troops, etc going to a country that isn't the US.
