Gotta be honest though, it's hard to get too worked up over this 20+ year old newsletter when you hear Ron Paul in segments like this:
He isn't being taken seriously. If this were the standard then Newt Gingrich would have been challenged on his statements about Palestinians being an invented identity. The guy is an intellectual crook and what he said is conspiratorial and hateful.
The MSM is against Ron Paul. So if by 'taken seriously' you mean them, you're wrong. This is our political culture attacking someone who is not wholly Establishment.
You guys are taking him seriously (relatively speaking), not the MSM.
There are tons of absurd ideas and opinions that don't last five seconds under moderate scrutiny that are given a pass in our culture because they reinforce Establishment pieties.
Obama wasn't taken serious in 08 cause of Jeremiah wright and bill ayers.
Newt isn't being taken serious cause of his Fannie and Freddie connections as well as his previous marriages Or putting judges in jail
Romney isn't being taken serious cause they bringing up his flip flops and marginalizing his religion as well his practices at bane capital.
I can go on and on. You can cry foul when he wasn't being invited to debates or even listed on ballots but at some point all the paultards are going to have to realize he's actually the front runner in some polls.
That will never happen of course because part of the hipster appeal of paultards is the victimhood and Tge sense of one man vs the world.
Obama was never under attack in the same context as Ron Paul is now. He is marginalized. Obama was not. Obama experienced the same kind of attacks that every candidate has to endure in the theater of American politics.
Whereas, and you acknowledge this, Paul's success is purposefully downplayed and ignored and the entire race is reframed.
Was Obama excluded from any debates?
Paul's success is not the issue. We are talking about whether he is being taken seriously now. I assumed you meant in the mainstream. Everyone is going to get criticized and attacked so you should apply another filter to determine the context of these criticisms. (Not saying I agree with the pro-Life stuff or creationism or blah blah)
I don't agree with Paul's beliefs. I think creationism is a joke as is pro-life (LAWL WE PRO-LIFE SO WE KILL ABORTION DOCTORS LAND OF FREE YEAAAAA) but I'm all for drawing down bases overseas as the days of militarism are long behind us. The only real imperialist nation(s) left is/are Israel and, by extension, us.
I'd say currently Obama, but that is shaky at best. I never like to think of who I'm voting for until it gets closer to the elections and I've actually had time to see all the platforms being presented. But I could say if we were to vote for tomorrow it'd be him.
For sure I don't like any of the republicans at this point so it would probably end up being Obama or a 3rd party candidate.
Not that it matters since our way of life invades foreign cultures more effectively than any army could, in a more lasting manner than any army base could
China is damn good at being a ghost imperialist. For money extraction, they are probably #1
Photocopies of racist, homophobic, nutty #Ron Paul newsletters leak online @NationalMemo http://t.co/GiNyMB4e
Wow.
Disappointed in rp.
At the time this was pretty much true."Those who don't commit sodomy, who don't get a blood transfusion and who don't swap needles are virtually assured of not getting AIDS unless they are deliberately infected by a malicious gay.
man that sure sounds like something he didn't write himself and had no knowledge of"Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for that pro-communist philanderer, Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressman. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it! We can thank him for our annual Hate Whitey Day. Listen to a black radio talk show in any major city. The racial hatred makes a KKK rally look tame."
