However, Rhinox is probably also right in that I don't know if a president could say "welp, take some money that was budgeted for this area of military spending and use it instead on dismantling bases and bringing troops home".

Congress controls the pursestrings and a bill would likely have to be passed to fund shit involved with bringing troops home. There may be some brinksmanship that Paul could pull though on a "what, don't you support our troops? you're going to let military intelligence fall into the wrong hands if we just up and leave, fund us returning home responsibly" stuff, which would be an interesting debate.

Aren't all the other Republican candidates right now "creationists" too? Well with the exception of Newt I haven't heard him say anything about creationism.

That is why we have elections, he presents his positions and he has the best track record to stick with em.

No one ever presses on the fact that the Mormon account of history is sheer insanity either.

Huntsman isn't. I can't imagine Romney is that stupid, he's probably just pretending to be one.

An assertion you have not proven. Based off a false belief that Ron Paul's positions are based in truth even though they are clearly shaped by beliefs he cannot prove, much less show empirical evidence in support of.

    Go away.

How will his religious views affect his politics? He isn't a Christian Zionist. He isn't a rabid nationalist war-mongerer. If you're voting Repub, then judge him with respect to the other guys.

That is, unless his economic policies are completely bonkers.

believing in creationism is ignoring a mound of evidence to support your own personal narrative / worldview. That is not something any presidential candidate should ever do ever. I will never vote for a creationist

Using that standard - how do you judge the 'religiousity' of the other candidates? Are they also condemnable?

So a person you agree 99% with is not worth your vote, but someone that you agree 1% with deserves your vote instead?

I agree with RP on 1 topic, and that is the military. Libertarianism is an ideology that all white males aged 18-20 align themselves with, and then realize what bullshit it is and move on. Ron Paul somehow never got the memo

Creationism merely proves that OP's fundamental premise - that Ron Paul's policy positions are based on truth rather than belief - wrong. By proving that Paul sometimes defaults to using belief in lieu of fact, he is reduced to the level of credibility that other candidates have.

It is now a question of both judgment and policy.

I believe that the ability to deny strong scientific evidence in the fashion that Paul does is indicative of poor judgment, a characteristic I do NOT want in a candidate. I don't believe in the majority of Ron Paul's policies. And because there is no defense that Paul's policies are based on truth, there is no leverage a Paul supporter has to prove me wrong.
