Go reread some of his work on historical materialism. His intention of creating a scientific method of analysizing history is in there, and on that same pretension of scienticity (reread Lenin when he discuses historical materialism) is what followers of communism relied on to insist on the reliability of historical materialism's predictions on the evolution of capitalism and its inevitable transformation into socialism and then communism.

government should not tax, regulate, or do anything that is not solely for the protection of the US, or else it infringes on the rights of individuals and their liberty.

Anything imposed on an individual by the government is an unjust attack on their individual liberty and is not moral.
