Perhaps the prizes get better the more stored up points you got? Like say if you have 50 points and use them on dial 5, you get crap stuff, but if you got 50000 accumulated points ( i know i know) and hit dial 5 your potential rewards are much higher?

I'd pretty much bet 50 was just to start since that is the most you can spend in a day. There wouldn't really be much reason for turning in items if they just gave you 50 a day.

People need to keep in mind that there is a max of 10 trade-in points per day when they are reporting their point rewards for traded items. For instance, I would bet that Lucky Egg is 10 points.

Updated it, and put ? next to ones that need further testing. It looks so far that a lot of these items are quest or progression items (Coffer keys, medals and such from Wings, Abyssea quest items). Hopefully over the next few days, we can nail down the categories for each item type.

Just passed Jap midnight, and my tally is now 10 points. So I presume its 50 points to start you off, then 10 every day automatically without item trading.

He never mentions or gives option how many points to apply per dial, so I doubt the amount of points you have accumulated overall affects the reward system based on the amount of points deducted. 50 points is 50 points. One thing that might affect the reward quality, and I'm speculating here, is the time elapsed since your last reward, ala Adventurer Moogle.
