kuro doesn't samsung make the kenmore now?
If you are in a place with higher energy costs make sure you weigh in on energy efficiency appliances. It could make a world of difference.
According to the other electric bill thread, my bill is miniscule compared to everyone else. I don't exactly want to make it higher though. I suppose I'm the kinda guy that doesn't care how it functions, I just want it to do it's job for many years to come. That doesn't mean I don't care how it looks, but I like everything minimal as possible in design. (aka no dyson vacuum cleaners that look like fucking transformer legs).
function > form
you act like a vacuum cleaner is put on display in your house lol shit sits in a closet until you need it and how often do you vacuum while guests are over? (can you tell I own a dyson? got one for our wedding and the shit is amazing)
Lowes has free delivery/installation. any appliance you spend 800 or more on get a warranty.
Measure your shit before buying a fridge. I got a 33"-depth french door bottom freezer GE fridge delivered, only to find out I couldn't fit it through my 30" kitchen door-opening.
Although, like a boss, I'm going to bust open the door opening so the fridge will fit.
If you can afford to wait, Black Friday is good on appliance deals. I waited almost a full year (bought my place last December) while using the cheap washer/dryer/fridge that came with my house, and got pretty much half price on everything I bought this past Black Friday.
Wife and I just bought our home last May and used her grandfather's Whirlpool discount on our refrigerator/freeze side-by-side and stove. Stove is fine and by all accounts functions good at it's stovey duties. The refrigerator on the other hand had the ice dispenser go out in the first three months and is already at the point it was right before it died the first time so I think it's about to go out again. Thankfully it's still under warranty, but having the motor crap out twice in its first year isn't very reassuring.
I'm so glad I was able to get my washer/dryer/refridgerator on black friday weekend. The fridge i bought was $1300, it's now $2000 at home depot. The washer/dryer I got were on special for $500 and $519, now they're $1000+ each.
Bought my set for $300 apiece on closeout, went to an outlet and bought the stands for $50/piece.
Samsung makes Kenmore's high-end sets of washers, dryers, and refrigerators.kuro doesn't samsung make the kenmore now?
Bosch makes their stoves and Microwaves.
LG makes some of their side-by-sides and three-doors, some of their microwaves, and their vacuums.
Whirlpool makes their cheap washers, dryers, and refrigerators.
If this is true, good. I don't feel so bad buying stuff from them occasionally.

Indicates that in 2012, they've donated to 74% R, 26% D. 2010 they donated 33% to D, 66% to R (or the "almost double" that I mentioned).
Most everybody that lives near me is republican; my county in south carolina was something like 80%+ R in the 2010 midterms. And as such, they are a nice combination of homophobic, racist, etc. So yes, I'm sure a lot of the local owners are just as bad as the big boys. But at least the local ones don't have the clout, using my business, to lobby congress.Home Depot supports LGBT causes, encourages equality in the workplace, and provides a lot of community services. It's very difficult, in fact, to find terrible things they've done, as there are a lot of positives. Lowe's has been a whipping boy of conservatives for a lot longer than this recent Muslim reality show debacle has let on, and if I'd known that sooner, I wouldn't have shopped there when I did. Fortunately, I've given Home Depot my business far more often, so I can feel good about that, at least.
Also, you may want to ask a lot of those independent business owners what party they're in. They may all be homophobic, racist, sexist, or otherwise bigoted Republicans.
