Take it with a grain of salt, but Consumer Reports usually does good work on most appliances if you're buying new.

Not really... They often test models that are no longer available because that's how long it takes them to gather data. If anything, Consumer Reports is retarded because it's just the collective opinions of customers and not based on real testing experience or research.

In other words, it's like writing down all the things Wal-Mart shoppers say about their clothing and then publishing a book entitled, "Consumers love Chinese Clothing".

I got my stove and fridge delivered and installed from Lowes for free on separate occasions. Although they did screw up the water connection to the fridge and it leaked all over...but they did come back and fix it the next day.

Most major retailers—and likely a fair amount of independents, at that—provide free installation and/or delivery. Heck, even Sears does, though not on everything. Usually, you have to buy the extra parts (e.g., a plug for your stove), but that's understandable.

Those kinds of deals are ones you should always look for, no matter where you shop, as a sale isn't much of a sale if you spend hundreds getting the appliance to your house.

Buy it on the right day and it's free. Most retailers won't charge for it unless there's extra work involved (ie anything other than plugging something in).
