Raldo TXU is ripping you off, I live in a 2 bedroom condo (1200sq ft) in Dallas with my girlfriend and we have electric everything (HVAC, stove, etc) and huge roof-level sun windows which don't retain heat - despite this our bill has never been over $100 and last month it was less than $40. We keep it the same in the summer as you but slightly cooler in the winter (we're both from Minnesota). I have no idea how you were paying so much this summer even with the gas heating unit...

Mine was 430 the past month, 4 adults in the house. No heat or ac (hawaii) but our rates are crazy.

In the winter, I pay about 80ish. During the summer it can spike up to $150+ due to AC.

Wow, so many of you guys are getting it up the ass lol.

    1) $100
    2) 3 People
    3) 3 Computers / 1 TV (weekends) / Lights in each room / not much else
    4) Computers are constantly on and lights are always on if we are awake

We live in Nashville, TN (not in the sticks)

The newer your building, the cheaper it should cost. Newly modeled homes around 2,000-3,000 sqft should be costing about $80 a month if built correctly.

(Unless you are in Fresno apparently, in which case, you are getting robbed lol - you could put the difference into a maxed IRA and 401k; long term, you are getting taken by millions lol)

Unless you just use a lot of electricity, in which case $300+ might not actually be that much.

in my 1BR apartment in south carolina i was paying $30-70 a month, higher end during the summers when the AC was constantly running. nothing out of the ordinary, fridge/lights/tv/ps3/laptop and that's mostly it. back up here in MA, i think the usual monthly is about $120-150 with 3 people.
