I never played the G.U. games, only watched the anime and ova. Maybe I should try and track down the games.

I guess I'm the only one who thought that Sora was a ginormous douchebag in G1 and got what he deserved. That being said he really gets put through the ringer in Roots/G.U. and didn't deserve all of that.
I never really saw him as a douchebag. I'd call him more of a dick. Player killing and hitting on girls constantly, but when shit got real, even though he knew Morgana could do crazy shit with real life consequences, he turned against her which enabled Tsukasa and co to escape.
I personally remember Crim being a big douche (as far as personality is concerned). But it has been quite awhile since I last watched it.
Is there a manga version of .hack//Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine as well as .hack//g.u. //rebirth, remenicse, and redemption?
There's also a game on PSP .Hack//Link so I don't think it's something that will be developed further.
If I recall, Link was supposed to be the -end- of the series.
How good are PS2 emulators now? I loved the first four .hack games, never got around to playing GU though. I was completely sucked in to the .hack storyline though, even bought the //SIGN DVD set and watched the series over constantly. Are GU worth playing through and will it be awkward playing on an emulator? My PS2 is back at home, but I could probably get it shipped up if I had to.
edit: jesus christ, all three games are like $30-40 and up for new and used copies. The cheapest new copy for vol. 1 on Amazon is $150. Anyone on BG want to sell me their trilogy for an not-insane price?
Pcsx2 can handle the GU games np, it's how I played through them, but it's pretty inefficient so it requires a computer a lot stronger than a PS2.
I could run the games at enhanced 720p (upscaled) at full speed without any issues on an i7-930 rig with an HD5750 and 6GB RAM. Not super high end, but definitely not a random Dell.
They are definitely worth playing through imo.
Good to hear. I'm running almost the exact same setup, i7-930 2.8GHz, HD5850 and 3GB RAM. Need to upgrade my OS to a 64-bit, have a copy but I need to backup everything first and I'll have the rest of my RAM useable (have 6GB in comp, can only use 3GB atm cause of 32-bit OS).
Do you still have the game files? Any chance you could do a rapidshare upload and PM me?
No new info regarding the game, however, though:
CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama has said that .hack and Solatorobo need more support from North American publishers.
In December last year, the developer announced a new .hack project in development. As of today, its teaser site is still… just a teaser site.
Regarding both the new .hack and a possible sequel to Solatorobo, Matsuyama told Joystiq, “as long as we can get more requests from the fans, there’s a possibility.
“It’s not that people don’t know about it. But I think it’s more that Namco Bandai Games America is not interested in the typical JRPGs, and that’s why they’re not looking to pick it up.”
The latest .hack game, .hack//Link for PSP, did not release outside of Japan.
Even so, according to Matsuyama, CyberConnect2 is trying to make games for a global audience.
“It’s most important to be able to see the whole world. Back in the day, a lot of developers and publishers were focused on Japanese games and sent them out to North America. Obviously that’s not going to be accepted as much. From our standpoint, we’re really looking to create a game that’s fun for everybody in the world.”
Not surprised at all there“It’s not that people don’t know about it. But I think it’s more that Namco Bandai Games America is not interested in the typical JRPGs, and that’s why they’re not looking to pick it up.”
Yeah, sounds like they're getting Tales'd.

We have just a few details on .hack Versus, the PlayStation 3 .hack game that's being bundled with the Blu-ray release of .hack//Sekai no Mukou ni.
Famitsu reveals this week that the game is an action fighter. Screens in the magazine show a perspective similar to the Naruto fighting games -- which wouldn't be too surprising considering developer CyberConnect2 makes those games too. Aside from that, gameplay details and cast count will have to wait.
The game will have 3D support. This is also fitting, as CyberConnect2 made a big fuss about the use of 3D in the Sekai no Mukou ni flick.
.hack Sekai no Mukou ni + Versus Hybrid Pack will be released on June 28. The standard version is priced ¥7,140. Namco Bandai will also release a limited edition, priced ¥10,500.

Also, regarding .hack//LINK and namco hating NA players. This did catch my attention:

Petition to the company to put shit over here so we can throw money at the games finally.
Edit: Nevermind, beaten
So is there gonna be an actual .hack rpg or is the fighting game all that's in the works? If so... massive disappointment.
